The new Star Wars Rogue One footage looks pretty cool

Turkey's last hope dies

Friday night’s failed coup was Turkey’s last hope to stop the Islamization of its government and the degradation of its society.  Reflexively, Western leaders rushed to condemn a coup attempt they refused to understand. Their reward will be a toxic Islamist regime at the gates of Europe.

Our leaders no longer do their basic homework. The media relies on experts-by-Wikipedia. Except for PC platitudes, our schools ignore the world beyond our shores. Deluged with unreliable information, citizens succumb to the new superstitions of the digital age.

So a great country is destroyed by Islamist hardliners before our eyes—and our president praises its “democracy.”

That tragically failed coup was a forlorn hope, not an attempt to take over a country. Turkey is not a banana republic in which the military grasps the reins for its own profit.  For almost a century, the Turkish armed forces have been the guardians of the country’s secular constitution. Most recently, coups in 1960, 1971 and 1980 (with “non-coup” pressure in 1997) saw the military intervene to prevent the country’s collapse...

There is no truth to the rumor that Ted Cruz will endorse Trump on the condition he commits to criminalizing masturbation

CLAIM: Ted Cruz said that he would endorse Donald Trump if the latter promised to make masturbation illegal.
FALSE
ORIGIN:On 14 July 2016, social media users shared links reporting that Ted Cruz said he would endorse Donald Trump for president if the latter promised to make masturbation illegal:
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) sent shockwaves through the Republican Party today when he announced that he would endorse Donald Trump for President, but only if the GOP nominee would be willing to publicly support a ban on masturbation. The Senator called this ‘The single most important issue facing the country today’ and that without ‘swift action by the next President the country was doomed to slide down a slippery slope of debauchery and self-satisfaction’.
There is no truth to this story...

Phew!... I'm also hoping for a commitment to make sure that the right to own a Sex Robot stays as legal as the right to own an AR-15.

Lena Dunham Cries in her Sushi

From Last Men on Earth:

Lena Dunham did an interview with Food & Wine magazine, marking the first time she's been qualified to speak as an authority on any subject. Perhaps they should make her Editor in Chief. She's really overweight. Acting like an annoying privileged twat doesn't make you a feminist. Actually it does, but it shouldn't.
Dunham attended Oberlin College in Ohio, where super spoiled kids go to pose as being compassionate before they move on to cushy corporate jobs and rape the rain-forests. In the interim they get to go through their social justice phase. This doesn't much entail protesting income inequality, climate change, police brutality, corruption on Wall Street, or corporate tax breaks. These whiny assholes are butt hurt about the quality of sushi in the dining halls. If you don't like it you could always walk a few blocks and give it to a homeless person. Just kidding, that would never happen, you only care about yourselves.
According to some living breathing dreg of society and Oberlin student named Tomoyo Joshi:

"The undercooked rice and lack of fresh fish is disrespectful. When you’re cooking a country’s dish for other people, including ones who have never tried the original dish before, you’re also representing the meaning of the dish as well as its culture. So if people not from that heritage take food, modify it and serve it as ‘authentic,’ it is appropriative."

Anyone without a serious psychological disorder would have said 'this sushi sucks' and threw it away. Joshi took the time to write an essay about it in the school newspaper. She's majoring in Gender Sexuality and Feminist Study. While these areas of study don't encompass sushi they more than qualify Joshi to bitch about it because the penultimate prerequisite is being a selfish cunt...

Septembre Anderson: Why Black Lives Matter doesn't speak for me

It's not that they actually represent black people, it's media stupidity and laziness which has propelled Black Lives Matter to the forefront of activism.
"...thanks to the mainstream media's terrible track record when it comes to covering anything to do with Black people, BLM-TO has succeeded in presenting itself as synonymous with Black liberation.

I don't know whether liberal media have dropped the ball due to their fear of being labelled racist or just a general lack of knowledge of how to cover Black issues, but BLM-TO has capitalized on it and uses your favourite website, newspaper, TV news program and weekly as their megaphone.

Black leaders are crowned not by the communities they are members of, but by media picking their most accessible faves. And for this reason the revolution will not be televised (or covered by the media). Instead of Black communities getting to elect their own leaders, we are presented ones that fill slow news cycles and token black pundit positions.

But while BLM-TO is great at communicating with media and keeping the media up to date on its movements, it's not so great at being transparent with the people the group claims to represent..."

Comedians in Cars Getting Abortions getting both pro and anti abortion people angry

I'm not sure how much this video that was produced by the pro-abortion organization NARAL, spoofing Jerry Seinfeld's web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, helps their cause, but it's pretty funny. It's also making some people on both sides of the abortion debate mad.

Poll Finds Emails Weighing on Hillary Clinton, Now Tied With Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton has emerged from the F.B.I. investigation into her email practices as secretary of state a wounded candidate with a large and growing majority of voters saying she cannot be trusted, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
As Mrs. Clinton prepares to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination at the convention in Philadelphia this month, she will confront an electorate in which 67 percent of voters say she is not honest and trustworthy. That number is up five percentage points from a CBS News poll conducted last month, before the F.B.I. released its findings.
Mrs. Clinton’s six-percentage-point lead over the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump, in a CBS News poll last month has evaporated. The two candidates are now tied in a general election matchup, the new poll indicates, with each receiving the support of 40 percent of voters...

Thousands of Shiites expressing support for terrorism at Canadian al Quds Day rallies contradicts politicians and media claims about "Islamophobia"

Pictures of Iran's murderous dictator Khomeini lead thousands of
Shiite fanatics at Toronto's al Quds day

The role of news media in a democracy is to provide the public with the truth so we can make informed decisions based on fact. Similarly, politicians in a democracy have an obligation to honestly portray and address issues which have significant effects on their constituents. When media and politicians misrepresent facts and conceal them because of an ideological agenda, it is a betrayal of the trust they expect to receive from the public.  A betrayal of the public trust by Canada's news media and political class is precisely what is happening when it comes to their narrative about Islamophobia and their concealing the extent of support for terrorism and violence within segments of Canada's Muslim communities.

Canadian politicians and the media are falling over each other to denounce a supposed "epidemic" of Islamophobia currently plaguing Canada. This is evidenced, according to The Toronto Star, in that "only a third Ontarians have a positive impression [of Islam] ...and more than half feel its mainstream doctrines promote violence."

It is of course grossly unfair to persecute or discriminate against an individual Muslim because of the tenets of the Islamic faith. Most Canadian Muslims are peaceful, law-abiding, fair-minded people who do not take Islam's call to jihad any more seriously than Christians or Jews take the invocation in the Book of Exodus to kill people for violating the Sabbath.  The type of Islam that extols violence and preaches the inferiority of women, and the hatred of gays, Jews and infidels is certainly not representative of the attitudes of every Canadian Muslim.

But this violent sectarianism does represent a significantly large segment of Islam, even in Canada, which is perceived as an example of successful Muslim integration compared to the failures of European multiculturalism.

The Muslim population of Canada has increased more than fourfold in the last 20 years, much of it due to immigration from countries including Pakistan and Middle Eastern nations where women have far fewer rights than men and where the persecution of non-Muslims and gays is commonplace. Pakistani, Iranian and Saudi madrassas (Islamic schools) teach antipathy towards the west and doctrines about women, gays and non-Muslims that, to the typical westerner, would be considered barbaric.

Our politicians and mainstream media are invested in a doctrinaire narrative which would have you believe that immigrants from such discriminatory countries become magically purged of the bigotry of their cultures the moment they set foot on Canadian soil. In order to maintain that fiction, they steadfastly refuse to report in any real detail about the glaring facts that contradict it. However their is more than ample evidence of such contradiction on display at the annual al Quds Day rallies that take place in Toronto and other Canadian cities during the summer.

Al Quds Day is an event that was created by Iran's deceased brutal dictator, the foremost Shiite theological leader of his time, Ayatollah Khomeini, to rally Muslims to the cause of jihad against Israel. It is held on the last Friday of Ramadan, the Islamic 'holy month,' to reiterate the religiously devotional aspect of annihilating the Jewish State and its non-Muslim inhabitants.

At Toronto's al Quds Day rally earlier this month, calls for murder and violence against innocent civilians were interspersed with praise for Khomeini and recitations from the Koran in order to emphasise the Islamic duty to support jihad.

Apologists for Islamic terrorism and the significant support for terrorism within western Muslim communities frequently invoke extremists like Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church or abortion clinic bombers, as if the comparison somehow balances each other out. But context and scale matters and the is no legitimate comparison between the two in that regard. Westboro Baptists are a tiny sect comprised of about 40 people. No mainstream Christian clergyman endorses murder or terrorism of any sort.

Yet in the shadow of Ontario's legislature, more than 5000 Canadian Muslims, bussed in from local mosques, reverently listened as Syed Abbas Abedi, recognized as a prominent Shia scholar and theologian, spouted off bizarre antisemitic conspiracy theories and provided a religious grounding for terrorism.

Later, Ali Mallah, an Islamic extremist and public service union activist, explicitly endorsed the killing of innocent Jews. In the wake of the murder of a sleeping 13 year old Israeli girl by a Palestinian terrorist, Mallah pronounced, amid his calls for the destruction of Israel, "we salute the resistance... by any form and by any manifestation that comes..."

That idolization of infanticide in the name of Islam was just as explicitly reiterated by another speaker.  Nadia Shoufani, has previously praised the vicious terrorist Samir Kuntar, who murdered a 4 year old girl in cold blood by grabbing her by her heels and swinging her around, smashing her head against a boulder. At Toronto's al Quds Day rally Shoufani, a teacher in the Dufferin-Peel District School Board, praised the type of "resistance" carried out by Mohammad Tarairah, who slaughtered the sleeping Israeli teen.

With facts like these staring us in the face, rather than the Islamophobia postulated by The Toronto Star, it seems considerably more reasonable to assume that more than half of Canadians feel Islamic mainstream doctrines promote violence because Islamic mainstream doctrines frequently do promote violence and hatred.

Toronto Star refers to killed ISIS members as "martyrs"
Rather than be honest about that, The Star has gone so far as to adopt the term "martyr" for ISIS terrorists who get killed, although they prefer not to refer to the Islamic State as "Islamic" so as not to stoke Islamophobia.

Despite these substantial matters of public interest, it's nearly impossible to find any political condemnation or mainstream media report of al Quds Day. If you can find one, it will be like the CBC's sanitization of the genocidal nature of the whole event, and its willful concealing of what occurs at them and instead providing a sort of moral equivalence between the murderous Khomeinites and the civilized counter-protesters opposing them.

Sensitive to the scrutiny it gets from intelligence sources and the occasional critic, al Quds Day organizers go to pains that their fanatical Jew hatred is only a form of "anti-Zionism." To that end, they will trot out the occasional useful idiot, like a freakish-looking member or two of a weird, inbred, apocalyptic cult called Neturei Karta, which is sometimes referred to as 'The Jewish Taliban.' Or, like an organ grinder displaying a trained monkey, they may exhibit a pathetic attention-seeker like Ken Stone.

Stone is a member of an emotionally unhealthy group of Jews and lunatics pretending to be Jews called Independent Jewish Voices, founded by 9-11 conspiracy weirdo Diana Ralph. Members of that group, including Stone, frequently push anti-Jewish tropes and conspiracy theories. Stone's desperation for attention dates back to the 1960's, when he yelled out at a University of Toronto convocation ceremony, "Fellow niggers, look what Mister Charlie's done to your minds!" before tearing up his diploma.

Using malevolent stooges like the Neturei Kartmen and Stone to "prove" the al Quds Day Shiites are not antisemitic is about as convincing as a pre-Civil War plantation owner who 'proved' his regard for black people by permitting slaves to work inside his mansion.

Fortunately, many, many Canadian Muslims are nothing like the thousands of vicious fanatics at al Quds Day rallies in Canada. Many Canadian Muslims are incredibly decent, compassionate and peaceful people who thoroughly reject terrorism, like those in groups such as Muslims Facing Tomorrow and The Canadian Muslim Congress.

But it is suicidal to our values to continue to ignore the vast numbers and grave threat posed to Canada, not by a fictional Islamophobia, but a widespread manifestation of violent, misogynist, bigoted Islam that demands conformity. By failing to even admit that problem exists to the extent it does is a betrayal by our politicians and our media, not only of Muslim reformers who have tried to raise the alarm, but of all Canadian citizens who believe in democracy.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has crossed way, way over the line with Trump comments

From The Washington Post:
If Spoiler Alerts has had a theme for 2016, it’s been that Donald Trump is massively unfit to be president, and that his campaign has challenged all sorts of norms that have mattered in American politics for quite some time. In other words, Spoiler Alerts thinks that candidate Trump has made America worse again, and a President Trump would make America bankrupt again.
What’s beginning to concern me just as much as Trump, however, is how other figures of authority are responding to him.
For example, there’s been a growing trend of retired generals and admirals weighing in on American politics soon after giving up the uniform. This was an emergent phenomenon after the start of the Iraq War, but, egged on by pundits, it seems to have escalated since then. Over the weekend, we all got to see retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn ham-handedly audition for the role of Trump’s vice presidential pick. Nothing precludes retired generals from commenting about politics, but as retired Marine Corps Gen. John Kelly told Foreign Policy’s Molly O’Toole,it erodes an already weakened norm:
To Kelly and many other current and former military, the brass who are weighing in on the 2016 campaign with critiques or endorsements are breaking down a sacred wall between the military and civilian politics that helps maintain the “tell it like it is” integrity of one of the most trusted institutions in the United States.
“It adds to this mistrust issue … if suddenly a guy retires and says, ‘I think this administration is doing all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons,’” he said. The worst thing, Kelly added, would be for a president “to ever think for a second that he’s getting anything but the absolute best military advice, completely devoid of politics.”
This norm has eroded in the military, but it also applies to other elements of the federal government, like the judicial branch. Last week Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg completely obliterated that particular norm in a wide-ranging interview she gave to the New York Times’ Adam Liptak.
Unless they have a book to sell, Supreme Court justices rarely give interviews. Even then, they diligently avoid political topics. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg takes a different approach.
These days, she is making no secret of what she thinks of a certain presidential candidate.
“I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president,” she said. “For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

Purdue University Might Expel Student Who Criticized Black Lives Matter

Administrators at Purdue University Northwest have demanded a meeting with a student who made controversial statements on social media—and even threatened to expel him.

The student, Joshua Nash, isn't sure exactly which comments got him into trouble—at a public university that is obligated to abide by the First Amendment, mind you—but suspects a Facebook post about Black Lives Matter might have done him in.

"Black Lives Matter is trash because they do not really care about black lives," Nash recalled writing on Facebook, according to The College Fix. "They simply care about making money and disrupting events for dead people." Someone reported the comment to Facebook, which removed it and suspended him for a month...

A lesson in how not to be a parent

Any parent who thinks their prepubescent child should choose its gender if it doesn't match its biology has some incredibly messed up ideas.

Sex drives are determined by hormones that don't kick in until puberty. Brain scans have demonstrated that make and female brains are different, just as there are many anatomical, physical and behavioral differences between males and females. The differences between males and females exist in every species where sexual reproduction occurs. It is not merely a result of "socialization" no matter how much a Gender Studies professor at OISE would like you to believe it is. If your 5 year old boy wants to be a girl, it's probably because it was raised in a dysfunctional family where a boy choosing to be a girl was rewarded and encouraged with additional attention and approval.

Once a person reaches adulthood and finds that they are happier living the gender to which they were not born, that's a choice they are entitled to make. But kids simply aren't equipped with the mental or physical maturity necessary to make that kind of choice.

I pity the children in this story, especially when in the future they have to contend with the way their parents raised them:
As a baby, Storm Stocker-Witterick drew attention from around the world.

Now, as a 5-year-old, she’s more likely to be getting attention from her parents and siblings.

When the Star first profiled Storm and her family in 2011, they turned heads the world over. Parents Kathy Witterick and David Stocker had decided not to publicly reveal the sex of their third child.

And nearly everyone had an opinion as to why that was right or wrong.

The family endured “vitriolic” criticism, as Kathy puts it, but also gained a much stronger network of support.

The Toronto-based couple wanted to let Storm decide in her own time what gender she wanted to identify with. They didn’t want anyone to assume the sex designated by doctors would match the gender their baby would identify with later...

The Toronto Star changes the news to hide facts about Syrian refugees

On June 27, 2016, The Rebel news outlet broke an exclusive investigative story about Syrian refugee-students who bullied others students at a New Brunswick high school, including “hitting on 14-15 year old girls”. The report was based on 2,700 official documents obtained by The Rebel through access to information request. All documents were posted online by The Rebel and are still accessible to the public.
The Toronto Star first reported the story on July 8, 2016. It was based on an article written by Kevin Bissett for the Canadian Press, and sent to all major media outlets in Canada.
From the around 1230 words of the original Canadian Press’ article only 223 words remained in the Star’s heavily edited article. The Star removed the detailed incidents of bullying and harassing students by the Syrian newcomers, and left its readers with only a general description of the events.

History repeats itself with Black Lives Matter

In the 1960's, there were many obviously legitimate grievances that black people had about racism in American society. Amid the turmoil of the fight for civil rights, great leaders like Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, and Roy Wilkins stood out as individuals who advanced fairness and justice in society. But any major movement has its hateful, selfish extremists motivated less by a cause than for personal gain, its Robespierres, and the battle for civil rights for blacks is no exception.

Then, the violent manipulators who were bad people doing bad things ostensibly for a good reason were the Black Panthers. The Panthers were violent criminals, drug dealers, rapists and racists who abused a good cause to give themselves prestige and influence. For the most part, they were rejected and reviled, but there were some useful idiots who ingratiated themselves to the Panthers to try to absorb some of their "coolness." American author Tom Wolfe wrote in 1966 about Radical Chic, describing how rich white celebrities fawned over the Panthers. The glitterati sipped champagne and nibbled at caviar canapes with killers and thugs atop the terraces of 5th Avenue penthouses, not because they understood the Panthers' goals so much as that they wanted to signal they were on the cutting edge of the avant garde.

Flash forward half a century and we see something virtually identical happening with Black Lives Matter.

Addressing injustices and racism that black people still face in North America is a good and important cause. But the people leading Black Lives Matter are not good people. Particularly in Toronto, Canada, which probably has the most harmonious interwoven multicultural makeup in the world, the issues facing black people are nothing like the self-interested Black Lives Matter activists would have people believe. Toronto's Black Lives Matter is made up largely of professional protesters and despicable characters with a new bandwagon to jump on after the wheels came off the last one and the one before that. Many of them are the same vacuous people you would have seen at Toronto's "Occupy" camp-out. Some are of the "No One Is Illegal" Marxist, open borders fanatics. Many are virulently anti-white racists and antisemites who are part of the detestable "boycott Israel" campaign. Some of Toronto's Black Lives Matters leaders come out of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, a cesspool of radical activism where racist idiocy is de rigueur, such as the nonsense that all white people are racists and only white people are capable of racism. It is an appalling place where its students literally come out more stupid than when they came in, after being indoctrinated to conformity and conditioned to become hysterical at perceived offenses.

Armed with self-absorbed hysteria, Toronto's Black Lives Matters routinely throws public temper tantrums, holding Pride hostage, harassing the Premier, shutting down commuters' ability to get to and from their homes, setting fires in public places, then claiming to be "assaulted" when firefighters have to extinguish their arson. This is a group that should be rewarded with pepper spray but instead they are given exclusive meetings and adulation by sleazy politicians, vacuous news reporters and various other virtue-signallers. The people shouting loudest about their "respect" for Black Lives Matter care far, far less about racism or the issues facing black people in Toronto than they care about linking themselves with "social justice." without actually understanding the term's meaning, or lack of one, as is just as frequently the case. But facts, and even black lives, matter much less to these virtue-signalers than giving the appearance of being "socially conscious" and chic.

Repeating the violence of 50 years ago, police now are being murdered after the killers have taken inspiration from Black Lives Matter. And just as with the Panthers, eventually the wheels will fall off the Black Lives Matter bandwagon when it becomes more obvious that the group is comprised of narcissists and scam-artists concerned only about themselves and their other extremist causes.

Let's hope that happens sooner rather than later. Then we can focus on improving the quality of black lives, and hopefully all lives, rather than improving the bank accounts and publicity profiles of a few slimy professional activists and the egos of sycophants trying to suck up some of Black Lives Matter's radical chic.

LGBT advocate George Takei, the original and best Mr. Sulu is disappointed the character will be made gay in Star Trek Beyond

Presumably, in the enlightened 23rd Century, there would be no need for a gay person to be 'closeted,' which undermines much of the rationale for revealing Mr. Sulu as having secretly been gay in the latest installment of the Star Trek reboot.

George Takei, the originator of the role and one of the world's most prominent LGBT activists, is also opposed to a gay Mr. Sulu.
...“I’m delighted that there’s a gay character,” Takei toldTHR. “Unfortunately, it’s a twisting of Gene’s creation, to which he put in so much thought. I think it’s really unfortunate.” Takei is referring here to Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, whom he says was painstakingly thorough in his character development, which included a vision for Sulu as heterosexual...

But Takei didn’t envision it would be his own character who would end the franchise’s streak of LGBT invisibility, and he said as much to John Cho, who plays Sulu in the new trilogy, when they discussed the idea last year. He believed it made more sense to create a new character who has always been gay, rather than bringing Sulu out of a presumed closet. He hoped Star Trek Beyond writer Simon Pegg and director Justin Lin would take this direction and expressed disappointment upon learning that they had not...
However, the trailer for Star Trek Beyond suggests that which sex Sulu finds enticing is the least of the problems that movie will have in finding an audience.

Canada's Supreme Court decides that lying on citizenship applications is ok

A ruling this week from Canada's Supreme Court effectively gives immigrants permission to lie on their citizenship applications.

The federal government had tried to revoke the citizenship of Helmut Oberlander, who served with a Nazi death squad that's primary purpose was the murder of innocent Jews. Oberlander lied about his Nazi past and participation in war crimes. However the Canadian Supreme Court decided that his lying about such vital information from immigration authorities was not grounds for taking Oberlander's citizenship away or extraditing him for a War Crimes trial.

This ruling places Canadian national security at grave risk of becoming a haven for war criminals. One can only hope that causes arise that will necessitate the removal of the current Supreme Court's members, seven of the nine of whom were appointed by Stephen Harper, so that they can be replaced with competent judges.

How the Iran Entente Caused the Syria Crisis

In the last few years, the United States has resolved to reduce its “footprint” in the Middle East, and has conceived of détente with Iran as the means of accomplishing this. If the Islamic Republic could be drawn into the regional security architecture, forge a new relationship with the Sunni-led neighbouring states that creates a self-sustaining balance of power, and be deputized to lead on issues of common interest—such as the fight against the Islamic State—it would require less U.S. involvement to police the area.

Unfortunately, Tehran does not see the U.S. withdrawal as a chance for co-operation and integration into the present state system; it sees it as a chance to overturn that state system and replace it with its own hegemony. With Russian assistance, an imperial space under the domination of Iranian ground forces has now been extended through contiguous areas of Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, and the process of exporting the Islamic revolution is underway in other areas like Yemen and Afghanistan.

Iran cannot defeat Sunni militancy because its own sectarian structures provoke more antagonists than they quell. Iran also has minimal interest in defeating IS, at least right now: IS is a useful foil for the extension of Iranian power. Moreover, Iran is a threat—and a more sophisticated and durable one—than any Sunni jihadist group.

Toronto area Catholic school board teacher speaks out in support of child-murdering terrorists

You should be very concerned that a piece of garbage like this is teaching in a publicly-funded school:

Nadia Shoufani, a Toronto teacher, was one of the speakers at the annual pro Iranian Islamic Al-Quds Day Rally in Toronto which was held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in support of the call of Iranian regime to oppose Zionism and Israel’s right to exist.
A graduate of the American University of Beirut and a former employee at UNRWA, Shoufani is a teacher for Special Education, ESL, Literacy and Science at Dufferin-Peel District School Board. “Ms. Shoufani” is mentioned as a SERT/ESL teacher at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Mississauga. Nadia Shoufaniis also affiliated with the Palestine Solidarity Movement and Actions4Palestine and is a director at the Arab Canadian Cultural Association...
Nadia Shoufani: “Yesterday [July 1, 2016] the Israeli occupation forces shot dead, executed a 27 year old woman, a pregnant woman, killing her. That means killing two, two people, the woman and her baby. Her cousin Mohammad 17 year old, was executed the day before.”
[The Palestinian pregnant woman Sarah Tarairah who was shot dead while committing a stabbing attack in an attempt to kill an Israeli policeman. “Her cousin Mohammad” is Mohammad Tarairah who was killed by Israeli forces after her broke into a house and stabbed a 13-year-old American-Israeli girl to death while she was sleeping.]
Nadia Shoufani: “I urge you not to be silent. I urge you to speak up, to resist this occupation and support the steadfastness of Palestinians. Support the resistance in any form that is possible...

Donald Trump & today's lesson in why you can't trust the media about anything

Donald Trump's bombastic presidential campaign may be the single greatest exercise in trolling the media in history.

But it also provides perfect illumination into the bias and untrustworthiness of much of mainstream media.

Trump gave a speech yesterday where he talked about how he thought the war on Iraq was a bad idea. On this I disagree. It was a good idea terribly executed. But it's a subject on which there is much disagreement.

However, one of the points Trump was making in his speech was that Saddam Hussein had no tolerance for terrorists and made no bones about killing them. Immediately prior to saying that, Trump, no less than three times, described Saddam Hussein as a "bad guy."

Yet the media, in its relentless efforts at attacking the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee, has been deceptively describing the speech as "Donald Trump praises Saddam Hussein."

It would be as if I made the accurate statement that Hitler was the most evil man in history, but he maintained the roads in Germany a hell of a lot better than John Tory maintains roads in Toronto, and it was reported only as "Richard Klagsbrun praises Adolf Hitler."

Almost certainly, it's not coincidental that this preposterous media hyping of a non-issue with inflammatory, deceptive headlines is happening at the same time that the FBI has, to great outrage, decided not to lay criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her grossly negligent and irresponsible storage of top secret emails.

It all gives one pause to think that Trump's tactic of attacking the mainstream media as patently dishonest is not only part of a prudent strategy, but is an entirely legitimate description of them.
