Foreskin Man whithered by female Superior Court Judge and Captain Israel

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Loretta Giorgi ruled on July 27th that a proposed ballot measure to ban circumcision must be withdrawn, calling it "expressly preempted" by state law.

The proposition attracted a great deal of controversy, since it potentially infringed on religious freedom and was meant to bar a practice widely considered as a prophylactic benefit for male sexual health.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Judge Giorgi said the California Business and Professions Code prohibits local regulation of medical procedures. She goes on to write that it "serves no legitimate purpose" for an illegal measure to remain on the ballot and ordered elections chief John Arntz to remove it.

The campaign against circumcision was led by a very strange group of foreskin advocates who refer to themselves as "intactivists." I learned the hard way (no pun) that they get upset when you call them dickheads.

The campaign against circumcision descended into creepy bigotry, when one of its advocates created an anti-Semitic comic book called Foreskin Man, that was evocative of Nazi-era anti-Jewish propaganda.

On the other side, a comic hero called Captain Israel has been recruited to combat Foreskin Man, and in the ensuing battle, appears to have left the circumcision opponent flacid.

The anti-circumcision ballot may have been toppled, but its removal has given newspaper  headlines writers something to play with.
