Warp factor four, Mr. Sulu - Star Trek anticipated scientific discovery 35 years before scientists

Einstein's theory postulated that nothing could travel faster than the speed of light.

Star Trek's warps were multiples of that speed which was an aspect of the science fiction show that bothered physicists.

Until last Thursday, when the CERN accelerator in Switzerland observed neutrinos, a sub-atomic particle, travel faster than Einstein's speed limit.

  1. I suppose this post is tongue-in-cheek with the reference to Star Trek. Still, you should know, it is almost certainly bullsh1t that these neutrinos travel faster than light. In all likelihood, this "discovery" will be shown to have been based on some mistake.

  2. I don't see why it should be impossible to travel faster than light. With the discovery of anti-matter, I'm not going to be surprised by anything. OK, I get surprised all the time, but it's not as easy as it used to be.
