Democrats pull a fast one on God and Jerusalem

Democratic Convention Chair, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called for a voice vote approving of  former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland's motion to change the party's platform:

“I come before you today to discuss two important matters related to our party’s national platform,” Strickland said from the convention floor. “As an ordained United Methodist minister, I am here to attest and affirm that our faith and belief in God is central to the Aamerican story and informs the values we’ve expressed in our party’s platform.”
“In addition,” he continued, “President Obama recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. And our party’s platform should as well.”

The vote required a two thirds majority to pass. Mayor Villaraigosa had to call the vote three times and said in his view, the motion passed and it is now the policy of the Democratic Party.

But listening to the vote, it sounded as if the nays, if not more numerous were at least as loud as the yeas.
