Now if only we could get rid of everyone above the Superintendent level at the TDSB, we might get a half-decent public school system....Fellow trustee and supporter Sheila Cary-Meagher believes Bolton was driven out by a recent onslaught of criticism and negative emails from a faction of trustees who have a personal vendetta against him.“I don’t like the sense that he’s being driven out,” she said. “There’s been a very powerful, constant pressure on him, criticism and pressure — it’s been a bit of a witch hunt and for me, unprecedented. I’ve never seen anything like this before.“I think he might just have gotten tired of the constant, aggressive criticism of his behaviour — of his existence — and it’s unfortunate because he’s been an extremely good chair,” she added, noting he was re-elected as chair three times.Director of Education Donna Quan said Bolton called her at 7 a.m. Friday and that it was “a very painful” two hours as they discussed his resignation after four decades as teacher, principal, trustee and chair.“I said, ‘Is this the right time?’ And he said there is really no good or no bad time to make a personal move,” Quan said, and leaving before the final board meeting on June 18 gives trustees a chance to determine how to handle his departure...
Below is the letter Bolton sent to his ward email list:
He's probably already got an office at the Ministry of Education :-(
