UPDATE - A desperate Justin Trudeau tries to claim his remarks were taken out of context. But he hasn't yet figured out what context doesn't make him look like an idiot.

And remember folks, le Dauphin Trudeau thinks it's not nice to call honor killings barbaric because it might offend those nice people who commit honor killings. Justin is going to suck up to them next month. (h/t Scaramouche)

Alberta Mountie puts a beat on some campers

The Mounties have a reputation for being a bit stiff.

But this Mountie in Alberta came across some campers playing music in the woods and joined their jam session, first on guitar and then on drums.

He's not half bad either!

Terry Glavin on Oil Sands, the Pipeline and China's stealth control of Canada's oil

Our friend Terry Glavin has a very interesting take on the Oil Sands controversy and the largely unspoken aspect of the vast Chinese investment in Canada's natural resources:

The $5.5-billion Enbridge pipeline project is all about sending Alberta bitumen in huge oil tankers to China. Beijing’s own state enterprises are among the project’s major backers, and Beijing has been buying up Alberta’s oilpatch at such a dizzying pace lately it’s hard to keep up. In the spring of 2010, China’s state-owned Sinopec Corp. took a $4.65-billion piece of Syncrude. Then the China Investment Corporation, which is run by the Chinese Communist Party, took possession of a $1.25-billon share of Penn West Petroleum. Last summer, the Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation gobbled up Opti Canada for $2.34 billion. And so on.

Then, last month, Sinopec spent $2.2-billion to take over Daylight Energy Ltd., and last week, Petro-China, with the final push of $1.9 billion, became the owner and manager of the MacKay River oilsands project. This is what Ottawa doesn’t want you noticing.

Help Lush Cosmetics ruin the Canadian economy and vilify Israel

In another example of loony radicals biting the hand that feeds it, British cosmetic manufacturer and retailer, Lush, which has branches all over the world, including Canada, wants to hurt Canada's economy with its campaign to stop the Alberta Tar Sands development.

As Ezra Levant's book Ethical Oil outlines, the Alberta Tar sands is one of the most ethical producers of fossil fuel in the world. Despite the pretense to "ethics" by Lush, they have no problem operating a branch in Saudi Arabia, where oil revenues have been used to finance international terrorism and the oppression of women.

Lush is also involved in a dishonest, fanatical campaign to vilify the only liberal democracy in the middle east, while pocketing money from repressive states, including one that killed more people who were part of an ethnic independence movement in one year than the total number of Palestinian fatalities since Israel conquered the West Bank and Gaza in 1967.

Hypocrisy is an expected facet of these types of fanatics, but Canadians should know better than to finance their destructive campaigns.

There are Lush stores across Canada, including Alberta, a province whose economy they are trying to devastate. Canadians would do well to buy their cosmetics elsewhere.

Canadian Horror! Attack of the Killer Beaver!

A beaver killed a husky dog in Three Mile Bend Park near Red Deer, Alberta.

The park is used as an off-leash park for dogs, who are faster and more curious than the rodent which is Canada's national symbol.

It's the time of year that beavers bear young, which is likely to have been the reason for the aggressive behaviour by the beaver.

Canadian Dinosaur Bed

No, I'm not talking about Libby Davies and Kim Elliott's mattress. (Ok,Ok,  I'll give it a rest, once the Davies story blows over.)

It turns out the largest dinosaur bone find ever was just discovered in Alberta!
