Zombie Trudeau Walk to Liberal "showcase" announced

Something out of the ordinary will be happening at the Liberal "showcase" where a coronation will bestow his father's old crown on Prince Joffrey Justin Trudeau.

A facebook event called Zombie Trudeau Lives has appeared and is described as follows:

Half zombie walk, half political event. Pierre Trudeau has come back from the dead to challenge his own son for the leadership of the Liberal Party. Join us in true Zombie Walk fashion as we lurch through the streets of Toronto to descend on the Metro Convention Centre during the Liberal Party "National Leadership Showcase." Recreate the 1968 Liberal Party Convention—with the undead. See Zombie Trudeau give the most rousing speech possible for someone a decade in the ground.

Zombie Trudeau walk will be this Saturday at 2 pm. Details are on the facebook page.

Dead "Zombie" cells outperform living cells in experiment

The so called “zombie cells” are created after coating living cells with a silica solution and then heating the cell at temperatures greater than 400 C (753 F). This process evaporates the proteins within the cell, leaving a three-dimensional nonliving, but nearly structurally identical “zombie cell”. According to Kaehr, the zombie cells are in some ways better than their living counterparts because they are capable of surviving greater pressures and temperatures, and can perform some functions better than when they were alive, saying:

“Once we've used silica to stabilize the cellular structure, it can still carry out reactions and, more importantly, that reaction is stable enough to work at high temperatures.”

The Father of Gay Zombie Art-Porn has film banned from Australian Film Festival

Bruce LaBruce's Gay zombie porn film, LA Zombie, has been refused classification and effectively banned from the Melbourne International Film Festival.

This is probably the best outcome Canadian director LaBruce could have hoped for. The banning of his film has generated more publicity than the movie itself could have.

I once saw a LaBruce movie at a film festival; its title escapes me, but the content consisted of Gay men thrash dancing, inter-cut with scenes of hard core male pornography, all done to the music of The Carpenters.

LaBruce, made another Gay zombie movie called Otto which premiered at the Sundance festival in 2008.

While I don't find LaBruce's films to be particularly engaging, I do have to salute him for single-handedly creating a new oeuvre of film.
