Reprehensible activists plan to harass children and the elderly at a Toronto charity walk

One of Toronto's most notable, lovable characters, Kensington Market haberdasher Tom Mihalik, has a regular commercial segment in the mornings on Classical 96.3 FM. It's an unusual minute where Mihalik, who has been keeping Tom's Place running as a thriving enterprise for decades on Baldwin Street in the heart of the Market, goes on a kind of free-thought ramble until morning host Mike Duncan steers the talk back to the subject of selling suits.

With his upbeat enthusiasm and heavy Hungarian accent, Tom sounds reminiscent of a stock comedy actor from a 1940's movie. His monologues vary from subjects as diverse as fan-talk about the Toronto Raptors, to his experiences growing up in the Market, to his celebrity encounters at local galas, to boostering the domestic economy.

The other day, Tom talked about making a generous donation to the upcoming annual charity Walk for Israel.

Tom said a long-time employee of his, an octogenarian, looked forward all year to the walk, which is an expression of support for the Jewish State. The walk, according to Tom, is one of the things that keeps the geriatric gentleman going.

The modern State of Israel, born in 1948 out of the ashes of the Holocaust and the cauldron of turmoil that is middle east geopolitics, was a symbol of renewal and hope. But Israel has faced relentless efforts by the surrounding Muslim countries to exterminate it since its birth. Enduring war, terrorism, and economic pressure from its neighbors as well as unfair criticism from western nations anxious to curry favor with the oil-rich Arabs, it is a miracle that Israel has managed to survive.

Yet this beacon of hope in a region of barbarism has survived as the only pluralistic, liberal democracy in the middle east. Though its survival comes at a great cost. Israel had an occupation of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza forced on them when a combined Arab effort to wipe out Israel in 1967 failed. Despite claims of anti-Israel activists, Israel is not occupying a Palestinian state. From Israel's independence in 1948 until 1967, the West Bank was controlled by Jordan, and Gaza was Egyptian territory. There has never been an independent Palestine. It was land controlled by the British after World War 1, the Turks before then, and prior to that, a series of conquerors kept it as vassal territory. The only time there has been an independent country in what came to be called Palestine was when it was Israel in the time before the Greek and Roman Empires came into being.

Israeli efforts to make peace with the Palestinian leadership has only been met with intransigence. US President Bill Clinton talked about how Yasser Arafat turned down an offer that would have created a Palestinian state on 98 percent of the territory the Palestinian Authority President asked for. When Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza as an experiment to see if the Palestinians would focus on nation-building and peace, the result was more Palestinian terrorism and incessant rocket fire from Gaza aimed at Israeli civilians.

Yet Israel survives. And the gentle old man who still works for Tom Mihalik, and many like him, along with schoolchildren and families, will turn out on Sunday May 29 to walk and raise money to support Israeli charities to maintain that survival.

However some people will be attending the Walk for Israel, not with optimism and philanthropy in their hearts, but with the malicious intent of harassing Jews and proclaiming their desire for the destruction of the Jewish State.

There are places and situations where discussion and criticism of Israeli policies are appropriate. But the Walk for Israel is a charitable, not a political event. It is not a place where expressions of hatred and calls for harm against anyone takes place, except by those who come to protest against it. That makes it distinctly different than the demented, Khomeinist al Quds Day rallies where terrorism is extolled and calls for the murder of Jews ring out.

What kind of malevolent people would chose a charity walk to vent their bile at children and the elderly?

They are vicious, stupid people, some of whom are Islamists, some are Marxists, and some are members of a vile group of depraved Munchausen Jews calling themselves Independent Jewish Voices.

They want a boycott of Israel and anything that expresses support for Israel's right to exist. It is a movement made up of sadists and masochists, some of whom are gays and lesbians whose depravity extends to expressing support for Islamic terrorists who would kill them for their sexual orientation, while trying to extinguish the only country in the middle east where gay rights are enshrined in law.

These are despicable, sick people whose activism is a form of narcissistic attention-seeking. There are only a handful of them, but if you examine the names of those who have committed to attend to persecute the Jews, they are fixtures on the comment sections of newspapers where they post anti-Israel comments so frequently and exclusively that it is readily apparent that the destruction of the Jewish State has become their raison d'etre.

If you look at them, it's not coincidental that they are all physically repulsive. Their activism is their social life. On their facebook group page, they acknowledge they will be ridiculed by the people they have come to offend and degrade.  Given the anti-Israel fanatics' degenerate nature, they probably welcome that. Whatever tremble of excitement they get from being insulted is probably a substitute for the sex lives those miserable, rancid gargoyles are missing.

One is tempted to say to such people who come to harass the Walk for Israel to "get a life." But that would do no good, since they obviously have as little an idea of what life is about as they do of human decency.

There were a dozen in all. If you think I was exaggerating about how repugnant they are, look for yourself. They included a hideous, wizened, one-armed woman who scoured at passersby. Another was a sickly-looking loser with a sculpted beard that makes him look like a parody of a satanic cult leader,  and who apparently thinks it's a fashion statement to wear socks with sandals on a sweltering day. Acting as if being repellent somehow makes them a cause celebre, they featured a dumpy, hirsute woman in shorts and a lattice-laced top whose mustache makes Tom Selleck's look like a thin wisp of lip fuzz. One of them is an ever-present barnacle at anti-Israel protests, an ugly stump of a female who is a picture of what you'd expect would come out of a garbage compressor if you put a hippopotamus wearing a bicycle helmet into one. And as usual, they brandished a couple of pathetic, exploited souls who bear the physical symptoms of people born with Trisomy 21.

OISE Professor accused of pedophilia-related crimes to have preliminary hearing in two weeks

There hasn't been much information in the news about the upcoming trial of Ben Levin, the former Ontario Deputy Minister of Education under Kathleen Wynne who was indicted for numerous child pornography and other offenses involving minors.

But one of the detectives involved with the case confirmed for me today that Levin, who at the time of his arrest was a Professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing starting on Wednesday, November 26 at the courthouse at 1000 Finch Avenue West in Toronto.

Levin's preliminary hearing is expected to last three days, at which time the court will hear a great deal of evidence about his alleged involvement in procuring child pornography and allegations about his arranging to commit sexual assault, as was described in his indictment. The judge at the hearing will determine if the evidence presented merits the next step of proceeding to trial.

For those familiar with the environment and culture guiding the institution where Levin was a professor, that someone of such high standing there would be in such a predicament comes as less than a total shock. OISE is the same place that, only a few short weeks after Levin's arrest, co-sponsored a symposium for teachers of young children where the keynote speaker postulated, without genuine scientific evidence, that adult sexual attraction to children is a natural phenomenon.

Considering that culture, the crimes of which Levin stand accused seem to be a natural, logical progression.

Regardless of the outcome of the Levin trial, hopefully the focus will shift to what bizarre, inappropriate dogmas are being taught at OISE. We need to be careful to determine whether that place responsible for the education of our children's educators is actually a place from which our children need protection.

A Hezbollah-friendly Public School Board candidate in Toronto

I'm running for Public School Board Trustee in Toronto's Trinity-Spadina. My opponent is someone who went out to speak to and support a pro-Hezbollah rally.  Now imagine if someone like that was making decisions about how public education was delivered in Toronto:

TORONTO - During the heat of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon in July 2006, Ausma Malik was front and centre at a peace rally denouncing the conflict and Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s support of Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah missile fire.

Pictures from that day show the Muslim woman, wearing a headscarf and attending the University of Toronto at the time, outside the U.S. Consulate, speaking beside Ali Mallah, a well-known pro-Palestinian, pro-Hamas activist and CUPE official...

... (Toronto Sun reporter Sue-Ann Levy) asked Chow at a Toronto Sun editorial board how she could align herself with a woman who reportedly contended publicly that Israel committed “state-sanctioned murder” and whether such a woman espoused “caring” values.

At first Chow, looking like a deer caught in the headlights, said she wasn’t 100% familiar with Malik’s background or her “foreign affairs point of view.”

Asked whether she checks people out before she endorses them, Chow said she does know “who she is”...

...Malik’s opponent for trustee, Richard Klagsbrun, who happens to be Jewish, said he is running to “rid the TDSB of the egregious politicization” that has made its way into the curriculum.

“Ms. Malik, a speaker at a rally that was out supporting an Islamist terror group ... represents much of what’s wrong with public education in Toronto,” he said.

Ford's Transit Plan is about "subways, subways, subways!"

Toronto is growing and the city will need subways to handle that growth.

And like it or not, subways aren't something you can wait until you need them to start building. We need to start now in order to prepare for the obvious, coming requirements for the future.

It turns out that between Rob Ford, Olivia Chow and John Tory, Ford's plan is the most visionary.

TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford is rolling out his subway-heavy transit plan on Wednesday.

The eight-page "Toronto Subway Expansion Plan" was posted briefly on Ford's campaign website before his announcement and shows the embattled incumbent will be continuing his "subways, subways, subways" mantra in the lead up to the Oct. 27 election.

Ford is proposing to build 32-kilometres of subway at an estimated cost of $9 billion. Those numbers include burying the 8.2 km stretch of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT that would run at street level in Scarborough.

Palestine House "retired terrorist" not so retired - calls for all-out violence

Issam al-Yamani, an Executive Director of Palestine House in Mississauga and a member of CAIA’s Coordinating Committee, called for launching a third Palestinian Intifada (meaning violent uprising) in Palestine and the Diaspora, implicitly also in Canada.

As an amusing aside, an article about al-Yamani's deportation hearing reported the "Court heard how Mr. Al Yamani is a changed man since coming to Canada; living here has made him "multicultural" and he now rejects violence "even under the rules of war." "

Bloodthirsty Islamists infested Toronto's Queen's Park

Bloodthirsty Islamist ghouls infested Toronto's Queen's Park Saturday afternoon.

They come every year for their al Quds Day rally, to call for the elimination of Israel. This year, the turnout was bolstered by the conflagration in Gaza caused by Hamas launching missiles at Israel, and their rage at the pesky Jews' refusal to die en masse. They also came to spew venom at Canada for not being supportive of their murderous aspirations.

They came bearing pictures of Ayatollah Khomeini, the depraved dictator of Iran who sanctioned the systematic rape of female political prisoners, and with the flags of terror groups like Hezbollah.

They were accompanied by a small handful of useful idiot radical leftists, and a few pathetic creatures from the bizarre, inbred, apocalyptic Jewish cult Neutrei Karta. But though they were there in numbers as many as five thousand, almost all of them were South Asian Shia Muslims and Arabs, devotees of the most vicious dictatorships on earth.

Screaming hate in heavily accented English, interspersed with Islamic prayer calls and shouts of "Alahu Akbar," they called for the destruction of Israel and claimed that the Jewish state had no right to self defense. They said that terrorism, including indiscriminate attacks on Israeli civilians, is "legitimate resistance." They were angry that Israelis would not submit to their desire to exterminate every Jew "from the river to the sea."  They railed about Zionist (read "Jewish") control of the media and they said it's that bias that lends itself to considering Hamas' attempts to murder Israeli women, children and anyone they can get at as 'terrorism.' They hate that the world seems to think it's fair for Israel to try to prevent the slaughter of its citizens, as these Khomeinists would like to see happen. They screamed at the pro-Israel protesters, "go back to Germany where they can kill you again!"  One useful idiot, a slovenly fool named Sid Lacombe, was infuriated by Israel "smugly saying they have the right to defend themselves."  Evidently his group of morons, the so-called "Canadian Peace Alliance," would like Israel not to defend itself from the thousands of rockets launched by Hamas against its civilians and see their blood run like rivers.

The good news is that there were hundreds of counter-protesters out to stand up to this evil. The sides were kept apart by a line of police, but it only took one glance to distinguish them. The pro-Israel side joyously sang and danced, which Hamas and the Khomeinists punish by death in their native lands. More obvious was that the pro-Israel side carried as many Canadian flags as Israeli ones. Whereas there were none among the perpetually enraged Islamists who, though they take advantage of all that Canada has to offer, despise this country and will do nothing to celebrate it. They denounced the leaders of all of the major Canadian political parties for not sympathizing with their efforts to rain death upon Israel.

One of the anti-Israel protesters carried a sign saying "If you are not angry, you are clearly not paying attention."  Canadians should be angry. But what we should be angry about is not Israel defending itself from terrorism, but the terror-supporters we have allowed to come into Canada in droves.

No media bias here at all: anti-Ford protesters booed at Ford Fest, so CTV characterizes it as homophobia

Here's a shock. Ford Fest is the annual gathering where legions of Rob Ford's supporters come out to party with Toronto's most popular municipal politician. But it's no news that Ford has plenty of detractors too, and a handful of these bitter characters with nothing better going on in their lives decided to crash Ford Fest to heckle the Mayor. Today, some of those Ford-haters presented themselves as being from the LGBT community, and they came carrying insulting placards and shouting abuse at Ford.

It would seem pretty natural and predictable that party-poopers who turn up to crap on other people's fun would get booed and insulted. But Toronto's mainstream media has a hate-on for Rob Ford, so with glaring, unprofessional bias, CTV characterized the exchange between Ford's fans and foes as if it were an unprovoked outburst of homophobia from 'Ford Nation.'

Ford has been viciously depicted as a bigot in the media, but as local writer Mitch Wolfe observed, Ford's supporters at this year's Ford Fest, as has been the case in years past, were overwhelmingly comprised of people from Toronto's multi-racial, multi-ethnic communities.

That monkey wrench in the media narrative has Toronto's latte-sucking pseudo-intellectuals in a tizzy. There's a panic going on among the elites in our city now that despite his travails,  Ford is back on the scene, beating his rivals in debates and polling evenly with the other two top contenders.

Get ready for plenty of media histrionics about Ford in the weeks and months to come before the October municipal election.

My day yesterday: Sammy Hagar, buxom bisexuals, Skippy Stalin and Adolf Hitler

The bright sunshine of a hot, cloudless afternoon seemed like the right conditions to go check out Sammy Hagar's launch of his Beach Bar Rum at the Summerhill liquor store yesterday. I'd been in that store a week earlier and noticed the poster up for Hagar's visit. There isn't a single Sammy Hagar song I could name if you held a gun to my head, but I had some vague recollection of his being with Van Halen for a while, so I snapped a photo of the poster and sent it off to my blogger buddies Skippy Stalin and Blazing Cat Fur, thinking they might appreciate the humor of it.

BCF couldn't make it, but Skippy was keen on the irony of seeing Sammy sell rum in person and wanted to check it out, so that's where we were at 1:30 on Tuesday. There was a pretty long line up of Hagar fans waiting more than an hour in advance for a chance to get a photo with the aging Heavy Metallurgist and in traditional rock star fashion, he showed up late. Making it worse was that before Hagar was allowed to speak to the crowd, we had to endure a series of incredibly boring speeches by PR flacks and LCBO executives droning on about how wonderful their organizations are. One of the LCBO bosses boasted how wonderful Ontario's liquor monopoly is for being the only place in Canada you can find a bottle of Sammy Hagar's Beach Bar Rum. I guess that means it's as hard to buy a bottle of Hagar's rum in Alberta as it is to buy a bottle of French wine in your local convenience store in Ontario, differentiating us from every other jurisdiction in the civilized world.

When he finally took the microphone, Hagar spoke for all of about two minutes, saying something to the effect of "God bless purveyors of alcohol," and made a hasty exit from the store, without signing autographs or posing for pictures with his fans.

Nonetheless, Skippy and I each bought bottles of Hagar's overpriced rum out of sheer curiosity, and then adjourned to a bar a bit south on Yonge Street because Skippy had been in there earlier and developed a fondness for a waitress he described as "having a porn star's face." Having worked in Los Angeles for some time, I had a general idea of what he meant, but I still thought that an unusual expression since the face is not usually the first descriptor of a porn star.

The waitress was indeed a comely bar wench and all was proceeding normally, with Skippy and I drinking at the bar, until I spied the back of a young woman sitting on the outdoor patio, on which in very large letters, she had a tattoo of a Latin phrase.

My Latin isn't what it should be, but I did recognize the Latin for "never," and wondered what the rest of it said. I entered the phrase into Google translate, but it didn't produce a coherent result, so I stepped out to the patio to ask the woman the meaning of her tattoo. In my experience, people who go to the trouble of having things permanently inscribed on their bodies after multiple punctures over the course of hours are usually quite happy to discuss them. The woman with the tattoo turned out to be very appealing-looking, buxom, and pleasant, and was no exception to the rule. She informed me her tattoo meant "never grow old, never give in." I suspect she had the Latin wrong, but in any case she was pretty and was accompanied at the table by an attractive brunette whose acquaintance she had only just made half an hour earlier and like her companion, was pleasingly busty and wearing a low-cut top.

Buying us all a round of tequila struck me as being the appropriate thing to do in the circumstances, so I retrieved Skippy from inside the bar, and a round of tequila was enjoyed by the four of us. That was followed by another round of tequila, and then another.  And then I lost count.

After a while, we all adjourned inside the pub to sit at a booth with the two women beside each other, me sitting next to the one with the tattoo, and Skippy, along with the brunette's business partner, who had just arrived at the bar sitting opposite.

In a very sudden development, the two women beside me, who had only just met, decided there and then to experiment with bisexuality. They started making out, passionately kissing and sloppily sliding their tongues in each other's mouths. Then my tattooed friend suggested that the brunette and she should go back to the former's home. The brunette seemed intrigued by the offer, but her business partner was understandably concerned that she was drunk and making a decision she might regret when sober. I made sure the business partner left with the women, who proceeded down Yonge Street with the tattooed woman's arm around the waist of the brunette.

The moral of that story, I suppose, is that just a few drinks with me can turn a heterosexual woman into a lesbian. So if there are any women who want to experiment in that area, just email me through the contact info on my blog, bring along your prospective partner in bi-curiosity, take us out for drinks and see what happens. I love bringing people together.

However, I had other things on my mind at the bar as the two women were exiting it. I'd just received a call from Blazing Cat Fur asking me to contact the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization for which I used to do consulting work, to inform them of a rather serious, and very funny mistake they had made.

As a parody, Blazing Cat Fur had superimposed the image of Adolf Hitler over the poster promoting an "al Quds Day" rally, the annual hate-fest for psychotic local Islamists who want to destroy Israel. Thinking the parody was the genuine Toronto al Quds Day rally poster, FSWC had sent out an email blast condemning the al Quds rally's links to Hitler and genocidal Nazi ideology. While the al Quds Day rallies are regularly punctuated with calls for the murder of Jews, racist invective like organizer Zafar Bangash calling US President Barack Obama, "that black man in the White House," and a general environment of vileness and evil of which Hitler would have undoubtedly approved, the people behind it are not quite so stupid as to put his likeness on the poster. So while Der Fuhrer will most certainly be hovering over al Quds Day rallies in spirit, it probably would not behoove FSWC to decry a parody poster as the real thing and make a fuss over it. Although in fairness to FSWC, the invective from our local Islamists against Israel is so hateful and vicious that it doesn't need a huge leap of imagination to think admiration of Hitler by them could make its way out in to the open. These Islamists are, after all, the same people who approvingly posted anti-Israel YouTube tirades by neo-Nazi leader David Duke on their website.

So I called and emailed my old contacts at FSWC and set them straight, and Skippy and I proceeded down Yonge Street to Cumberland Street and a bar called The Pilot.

On the way down Yonge, just north of Davenport Road, I was accosted by a woman who noticed me carrying my rollerblades and she started hectoring me about not having a helmet. The woman appeared to be somewhere between her late 40's and early 60's (I'm terrible at estimating people's ages) and was nice enough, so I invited her along to have a tequila with Skippy and me. That evoked a mild protest that this woman, whose name I've completely forgotten so I'll call her Midge for convenience, couldn't drink tequila, only beer. I told Midge I was only going to buy tequila, not beer and it was her choice whether she wanted to come with us or not. She did.

So Skippy, Midge and I wound up on The Pilot's rooftop patio, and Midge told us about how not wearing a bicycle helmet led to her getting brain damage in an accident. So I bought her another tequila to make her feel better.

Sitting next to Midge with my back to the rooftop fence, I could not help but notice two very lovely, shapely women, a blond and a dark haired beauty sitting at the table opposite me. Sending a couple of shots of tequila over to them struck me as the appropriate thing to do, and then the sexy dark haired woman called me over.

"You don't remember me, do you?" she said, making a correct inference from my blank, goofy look. Whenever someone says that to me it could lead next to something very good or very bad. My immediate instinct when challenged like that, particularly by an attractive woman, is to... well, not lie exactly, but sputter out something like "how could I possibly forget someone as beautiful as you?" and hope that the memory of whom I speaking with comes back before I get caught out.

In this case, the woman was someone I'd spoken to quite often and quite recently. She is an employee of Moses Znaimer for his Zoomer Media. Znaimer, a septuagenarian, has the wisdom and good sense, plus the money to be able to keep himself surrounded by extremely pretty women at all times. This particular woman I first met at a taping of Conrad Black's show and again spent lots of time speaking with her at Znaimer's 3-day long IdeaCity conference last month. As it was, she didn't appear too offended at my absent-mindedness, and really, how mad can you get at someone who arbitrarily decides to buy you a shot of tequila in a bar? Actually, I take that back. The last time I was out with Skippy, I managed to make a woman I bought a tequila shot at a bar quite angry, and only for innocently discussing the behavior patterns of female lions. I guess i have a talent for that sort of thing.

But in this case, everything was fine and we were happy to get reacquainted. However, the beauties at the adjacent table weren't the only ones drinking and I had downed more shots than I could recall. It was time for me to go. Midge was either in the bathroom, or had wandered off, but it was definitely time for me to get going, so with Skippy, wandered into only one more pub on Prince Arthur Avenue for a final drink, and then we parted ways and I skated off into the night to seek out my comfortable bed at home.

Today in the heart of Toronto's downtown, foreign-born fanatics were screaming their fury at Canada and about Canada's support for the middle east's only democracy. They were there in the hundreds. Grubby men in shabby, earth-toned clothes accompanied by pudgy, hirsute women shrouded in chadors and hijabs, all clustered beneath a sea of flags they brought representing Canada's enemies like Iran. Their clothes were like some perverse caricature of the satanic ideology of the terror group Hamas, which they came to support and which boasts that while their enemies love life, the Islamists love death. Some of these miscreants even waved flags of organizations listed by our government as banned terror groups, including those of Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad in Palestine.

In the days before Pierre Trudeau was Prime Minister, these hateful wretches would have been thought of as a 5th column among us, but now they're considered just another part of Canada's multicultural fabric. And the picture of them is like a titanic advertisement for the need for massive immigration reform in Canada.

Only an idiot moral relativist would require an explanation of Israel's need to defend itself from a barrage of hundreds of missiles that the terror group Hamas has launched against the Jewish State in recent days. No other country on earth would tolerate such an assault against its citizens, yet only Israel is urged to "exercise restraint" under such circumstances.

The vapid, disgusting, bloodthirsty horde on Bloor Street accused Israel of genocide, while half Israel's population was taking cover in bomb shelters from the attacks from Gaza. Yet even so, while Gaza's population has been urged by their leaders to murder every Jew they could lay their hands on, Israel continued to provide food and fuel to the Palestinians so that they would not suffer a humanitarian crisis. Imagine if those positions were reversed and the Palestinians were in the stronger position. No one with any familiarity of Hamas imagines for a moment that the Palestinians wouldn't gleefully exterminate Israel's entire population given the chance.

Not that any imagination is necessary. Hamas, the rulers of Gaza, have explicitly declared that in its attacks on Israel, every Israeli is a target.

Now think for a moment what would happen if another government had said such a thing. What if Israel had said that about the Palestinians or if America had said that about Iraqis? The outrage and calls for criminal trials for war crimes would be global and deafening.

So where is that same condemnation of Hamas? Nowhere.

The Palestinian leadership is expected to behave like animals and that's exactly what they do.  In Islamic countries, and from the 5th column supporting them in the west, we only hear condemnation of Israel.

Most Muslim immigrants to Canada are peaceful, decent people who came here to escape the murderous, hateful fanaticism we saw laid bare on Toronto's streets today by Palestinian terror supporters. Through a flaw in our immigration system, we have allowed some of the types of monsters most Muslim immigrants were fleeing into our country to spread their bile. It's well past the time the Canadian government did something to stop, and hopefully reverse that flow of evil.

The mainstream media did no homework on Rob Ford's shirtless stalker John Furr

Yesterday morning, at a public press conference, an hysterical opponent of Rob Ford named John Furr whipped off his shirt to reveal a pasty, doughy, 52 year-old torso and screamed abuse at Toronto's mayor for the entire proceeding.

Toronto's mainstream media, which for the most part shares a detestation for Toronto's embattled mayor, was more than happy to give Furr air-time and promote a sanitized representation of him. Doing absolutely no homework, or at least not willing to report any of it, they played accomplice to Furr's efforts to portray himself as someone who, as the Globe and Mail uncritically reported,  "wanted to represent normal people."

So how 'normal' is John Furr, someone who histrionically screamed at Rob Ford while the mayor was trying to explain his opposition to a proposed LRT line along Eglinton Avenue?

The blog Socialist Studies, which concerns itself with education issues, took an interest in Furr when he declared himself a candidate for the Toronto District School Board. Furr's campaign garnered virtually no support and ended quickly, however the intervening picture revealed someone who is anything but 'normal' by most people's standards.

Furr is a supporter of Ford's rival Olivia Chow, which the media that interviewed him, such as The Toronto Star, didn't bother to ask or disclose. While it did emerge that Furr ran a brief candidacy for the School Board, the mainstream media neglected to note his positions, such as that education should not teach facts but values.

The image of a weird, obsessive twitter stalker is also something that comes into focus through Socialist Studies' reporting on Furr.

I've had my own twitter encounters with Furr, when he decided to take it upon himself to make unsolicited replies to tweets of mine. Those episodes show someone who promotes the hateful slur, which Canada's Prime Minister described as "the new face of antisemitism," about Israel supposedly being an apartheid state, when all facts belie that.

In fact, Furr is someone who is either so stupid or dishonest (or both) that he tried to extrapolate an insult against the fanatical anti-Israel group "Queers Against Israeli Apartheid" as a "smear" against the entire LGBT community.

If that's what 'normal' people are like, then normal doesn't mean what it used to.  But then, Toronto's mainstream media has its own definition of normal by which thinking exactly what they want you to think is a part. And if there's pertinent information which contradicts their version of normal, they obviously think it's better that you never know about it.

Showing contempt for Jewish donors, the University of Toronto promotes professor at center of antisemitic controversy

A controversial professor at the University of Toronto's Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, who was at the centre of an anti-Semitic classroom incident, was recently promoted by the University to the shock of many in the Jewish community.

Following the wide exposure of an anti-Semitic classroom "Jew count" facilitated by Rupaleem Bhuyan, then an untenured Assistant Professor with the University of Toronto's Faculty of Social Work, the university was deluged by complaints and concerns from its Jewish donors.

A disturbing 2009 incident involving Bhuyan was originally chronicled in the Journal for the Study of Antisemitism by her then-colleague Professor Ernie Lightman, and has since been described by other faculty at the Factor-Inwentash School. According to these reports, which have not been denied by the University, Bhuyan supported the racism of students who wanted to avoid a visit, as part of their course, to the Baycrest Centre, a highly regarded Jewish geriatric care and research facility. Adrienne Chambon, the Director of PhD Programs at the U of T Faculty of Social Work at the time, recounted that Bhuyan told her, "‘racialized’ students come from underprivileged backgrounds and were justified in not wanting to be around old Jews because they are rich and would make them uneasy. "

Bhuyan also facilitated a classroom "Jew count" of faculty after making what Lightman described as an "inflammatory and inaccurate" assertion that half the department's faculty were Jews.

Upon learning about the shocking classroom behavior by one of its professors and the university's inadequate response, outraged Jewish donors who have provided millions to various university departments contacted the office of David Naylor, who was then the University of Toronto's president. Senior university administrators assured the donors that their complaints were being taken seriously and would be addressed.

However, in what was indicative of the real attitude of the university, Bhuyan was retained in her position. In contrast, rather than receiving support from the administration and their department, both Lightman and Chambon were ostracized by fellow faculty for exposing the incident and have since retired.

Demonstrating further contempt for its Jewish donors, the university recently promoted Bhuyan, who told Professor Chambon that racist attitudes towards Jews were "justified," to Associate Professor with tenure.

A fixation on race may be part of Bhuyan's modus operandi, who lists among her interests, "critical race theory." Bhuyan is the only member of the entire Faculty of Social Work's diverse staff to make a point of stating her ethnicity in her faculty biography, writing she "is a second-generation immigrant of Assamese/Indian heritage," seemingly as if it should be considered a qualification.

Among critical race theory's postulations is that people of color can only be the victims of racism, but never the perpetrators, no matter how blatant the racism they express.

Disappointingly, by promoting Rupaleem Bhuyan, the University of Toronto has effectively confirmed that such asinine, illogical bigotry is something it finds completely acceptable.

Nash the Slash dead at 66 and other Toronto oddities

Oh no! The innovative and very talented Nash the Slash died earlier this week at the age of 66.

In related news, a developer has bought the Broadview Hotel at Queen and Broadview streets in Toronto, giving rise to speculation that Jilly's, one of Toronto's oldest strip clubs, will go out of business.

How are these related, you may ask. Well, for me they are because a very good friend of mine, a well-known film producer and director, used to live just a bit west of Boadview and Queen. He was a friend of Jeff Plewman aka Nash and the musician would often turn up at gatherings where we all watched obscure, gory B-movies. Nash appeared onstage dressed as the Invisible Man in bandages, and Jeff's identity was a closely guarded secret.

Back in those days, Jilly's was the only bar in the area, so my friend and I had no other option but to go there if we wanted to get a local drink. My friend, who was one of Canada's most prolific film producers and was quite flush with cash, would also pay for lap dances and force me to have naked women gyrate on and around me. So as you can imagine, these are traumatic memories I'm reliving for your benefit.

In other matters of local interest, on my return rollerblade trip from St. Lawrence Market today, where I went to buy some sundried olives, I skated by a very interesting promotional installation at the corner of Yonge and Elm streets. It is for the new Godzilla movie about to hit the theaters and I snapped a couple of shots (below).

This is some fascinating installation art and, as should be noted by the parasitical, untalented arts grant leeches that adore Olivia Chow, it didn't cost the taxpayers a nickel. In fact, I'd guess the city even made some revenue off charging for the temporary use of public space.

Weird Canadian Munchausen Jews to honor author who inspired Kansas City Jew-hating murderer

Independent Jewish Voices, which supports boycotts of Israel and canards about that country, was formed for the expressed purpose of trying to deflect charges of antisemitism towards the hateful campaign against the Jewish State. The group was founded by 9-11 conspiracy theorist Diana Ralph in part with funds from anti-Israel campaigners in the United Church of Canada. The group includes non-Jews among its membership to boost it minuscule numbers.

Ironically, Independent Jewish Voices' positions actually match the Canadian government's definition of antisemitism. So rather than stifle accusations of antisemitism being the motivation of their Gentile comrades, it reiterates that Independent Jewish Voices is a witless band of Munchausen Jews; that is Jews (and some pretending to be) who primarily identify as such for the purpose of vilifying Israel and other Jews as a way of garnering attention while serving their own pathological personal demons.

As if determined to make their depravity abundantly clear, Independent Jewish Voices' latest project is bringing fanatical author Max Blumentahal to Ontario to promote his anti-Israel book Goliath.

Blumenthal was cited by the neo-Nazi Kansas City murderer Frazier Miller as one of his inspirations, writing in an online posting: "Jew journalist Max Blumenthal exposes and explains this attempt by a foreign government Israel, to buy the presidential election for the neo-con, war-mongering republican establishment."

With the Kansas City murders still fresh, one wonders if the motivation for Independent Jewish Voices is sensationalism or as an expression of a continuing determination to prove their stupidity knows no bounds.
