Is rabble.ca implying that Jack Layton was a closeted homosexual?

The great playwright of the English Renaissance Christopher Marlowe wrote Edward II about the Gay son of the monarch Edward Longshanks (modern audiences might know the first Edward best as the villain  of Mel Gibson's Braveheart).

Setting the tone, the play opens with Edward II's special friend Gaveston reading a letter from the new monarch which includes the lines:

To hide those parts which men delight to see

The far-left website rabble.ca, published by the same-sex spouse of NDP Deputy Leader Libby Davies, is promoting an event called:

Pride, Prejudice and Politics: Jack Layton and the lessons of Christopher Marlowe’s Edward II  

In its description, they note:  As an undergraduate student at McGill, Jack Layton read and copiously annotated his copy of Marlowe's play. Join us as Dr. Jason Boyd connects the dots between Jack Layton and this classic 16th Century play.

It should be interesting which "dots" they connect between the former NDP leader about whom there was much speculation, and the tragic Edward II who also met an untimely end.

Westboro Baptist bigots get some in-their-face Pride

The Westboro Baptist Church - most famous for picketing funerals and its "God Hates Fags" website - is being targeted on its own turf.

The house across the street from its Topeka, Kansas, headquarters has been bought by an activist and painted in the rainbow scheme associated with gay pride.

There's a difference between an Education expert and an Evolutionary Biologist. The latter requires facts and evidence and the former frequently will make up nonsense and try to indoctrinate children to it based on their ideological desires.

Homosexuality is a natural facet of mammalian life. It occurs in most species to some extent, but there is a biological reason for it. It occurs within a small minority and the biological reason is one of nature's ways of  implementing population control.

There is no moral judgement in that. Gays should be entitled to equal rights, be free from all forms of discrimination and Gay marriage can actually be beneficial for society.

But it's a far cry from that to saying homosexuality, something that occurs in about 2% of the population, is 'normal' or that gender is something that can be a choice.

These ideas are part of the idiocy fostered in places like the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education where some programs are comprised of majority Gay students and staff, and by their willing accomplices at Ontario's Ministry of Education and by the ridiculous leadership of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).

Among the latest absurd attempts at social engineering, the TDSB wants to encourage cross-dressing in children as young as pre-school.

Among the books recommended to kids in pre-school to Grade 3 by the TDSB's Positive Spaces Resources is a book called My Princess Boy, the protagonist of which is a young boy who wears dresses and a tiara.

Evidently being Gay-positive isn't enough for the TDSB, it now wants, at the youngest age, to encourage boys to be flaming queens.

In a system where most children can't name all Canada's provinces and provincial capitals, it's heartening to know that they spend so much time emphasising  `gender choices.``

It`s hardly any wonder that so many university professors are noticing that students entering post-secondary studies don`t even know how to properly punctuate a sentence.

But at least Toronto`s public schools are giving them a head-start on learning how to accessorize.

Toronto City Council wimps out on Pride funding issue - again

This weekend I had tapped out what I thought was a lovely little speech about the responsibility of the municipality not to fund a platform for the vapid hatemongers called Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (al-Quaia)  that I was planning to deliver to the Executive Committee of the City of Toronto today . But thanks to a motion put forward by Ward 37 Councillor Michael Thompson that passed overwhelmingly, deliberations about the revised Anti-Discrimination Policy, which would have provided an avenue to address the conditions for Pride Toronto's 2012 funding, will be deferred until September .

Last year, the room was overflowing with so many people speaking about the issue, the meeting went late into the night despite the reduction of deputants' usual talking time from five to four minutes. Even though there were only a handful of people who had signed up to deliver a message this year, it's not surprising the Executive Committee avoided dealing with the contentious matter until after Pride was over. It is a highly contentious and controversial issue at the best of times, but a fight was certainly in the brewing this year.

In a compromise motion proposed by Councillor James Pasternak that that passed last week  27 to 7, rather than make funding to Pride conditional on the exclusion of the hate group al-Quaia, Toronto Council instead voted to condemn the use of the term Israeli Apartheid. (Councillor Thompson, who voted against the motion was allegedly told Councillor Pasternak he made a mistake and intended to support the motion - I have a call in to Councillor Thompson's office to clarify whether that is the case.)

Armed with that official condemnation, Councillor Pasternak had intended to show that the term Israeli Apartheid was hateful and violated the City's Anti-Discrimination Policy, something the revised policy itself did not address. If that was made clear by an amendment to the policy and If Pride were to include the group using the term, it would therefore violate its funding conditions.

But this year that would have engendered a huge fight, which would have been made all the more vicious following revelations first published on this blog and later picked up by the Toronto Sun, the person who was tasked with revising the policy had a clear conflict of interest. Uzma Shakir, the City's Manager of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Human Rights, has a long history of making anti-Israel pronouncements, going so far as to suggest that immigrants do not owe their full loyalty to Canada because of the government's stance towards Israel.

Council would have had to deal not only with the volatile issue of hardcore, radical Pride activists advocating for unfettered funding versus Jewish groups outraged that their tax dollars are being used to fund anti-Semitism. But on top of that, municipal politicians were blindsided with having to explain how a partisan ideologue evidently vehemently opposed to Israel was placed in a position of oversight of such a controversial matter in which she had already demonstrated bias.

In the end, the Executive Committee bought time to look into a matter that could have made everyone at the City Manager's office look like an idiot.

However as Pride funding has already been approved, the anti-Semitic hate group that has exists for the sole purpose of demonizing the Jewish state will be allowed to march in this year's Gay festival in Toronto.

Tremendous pressure will now be brought to bear on Pride's corporate sponsors who will be tarred as funders of Jew hate if they support an event featuring the hate group.

Another anti-Gay Republican legislator caught in a Gay sex scandal

This sort of thing seems to be a monthly occurrence..

Here’s how it reportedly went down: 64-year-old, married Indiana state representative, Phillip “Phil” Hinkle — who voted in favor of a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage — allegedly tried to procure an 18-year old male prostitute named Kameryn Gibson on the “men seeking men” section of Craigslist and then offered the young lad $80 plus tip for a “good time” Saturday night at the JW Marriott hotel.

Once at the hotel, Hinkle, in perhaps not the brightest move, reportedly showed his official ID to the male prostitute. Shortly thereafter Gibson, whose ad said he was seeing a “sugga daddy,” had a change of heart and called his sister, Megan, from the hotel suite’s bathroom to come and pick him up. That’s when Hinkle allegedly tried to prevent Gibson from leaving.

Now here’s where it gets really weird. Gibson claims the lawmaker then grabbed him in the buttocks, exposed himself and later offered him a bribe of an iPad, BlackBerry and $100 cash to keep quiet.

Or how about Abdur Raheem Green who said: "The Jews and the Christians have taken their priests and their rabbis as gods beside Allah."



Or  how about this charmer, who is on the speakers' list?

Or Abu Usamah Atthahabi who FOX News reported has al Qaida links and calls for the "crucifixion of the kuffar" (the kuffar would be any non-Muslim).

Or this genius that argues for arranged Muslim marriage: "marriages that begin with emotions usually end in divorce."

The list goes on...and on... and on....it's like a miscreant convention...

The mainstream press like the Toronto Star and Globe can't be bothered to report about it, because it might take away from the space they need to bash Rob Ford for wanting to spend a long weekend at the cottage.

The lack of protest by the usual suspect groups like Queers Against Israeli Apartheid that only seem to be focused on what Israel does, creates even more of an appearance that they too are motivated by anti-Semitism and not social justice.

Toronto Pride Community Advisory Panel Report - passes buck on al-QuAIA participation to City

The Community Advisory Panel for the Toronto Pride Committee, after months of consultations, meeting and surveys, has issued its recommendations.

On the one issue that people were really curious about, whether they would allow the anti-Israel hate group "Queers Against Israeli Apartheid" (al-QuAIA) to participate. City council and the current mayor have threatened to withhold city funding if the group that seeks to deligitimize and boycott the Jewish state is allowed to participate, and the Panel;s report throws the responsibility for that decision back to the City to determine if Toronto's anti-discrimination policy is violated by their inclusion.

Two relevant sections from the report are point 14 below:

"Pride Toronto establish a Board Advisory Committee on governance and that membership on this committee consist of at least one Board representative, but consist mainly of people from the community who have the skills and experience necessary to carry out the responsibilities specifically allocated to this committee and to ensure that Pride Toronto’s governance structure, its bylaws, and its operations reflect the best practices of not-for-profit corporations. The Board Advisory Committee will assist the Board and its membership in overseeing Pride Toronto’s compliance with the applicable municipal, provincial and federal laws; its obligations imposed by its Letters Patent and Bylaws; and with obligations under funding agreements including the reporting obligations imposed by those agreements, e.g., City of Toronto Equity Guide. Furthermore, this committee will ensure that Pride Toronto creates the policies and practices imposed by the City Of Toronto on funding recipients, including as priorities robust equity policies, conflict of interest policies, and a dispute resolution process."

And the related section from Appendix A:

"All groups applying to participate in the Parade or a march must complete an undertaking to abide by Pride Toronto’s anti-discrimination policy. Included in this undertaking will be the following phrase “The applicant will not present images or messages that promote or condone, or may promote or condone, violence, hatred, degradation or negative stereotypes of any person(s) or group(s).” Allegations that this undertaking has been or will be violated by any group, like other allegations of rule violations, will be resolved through the Pride Toronto dispute resolution process. Groups violating this undertaking or other Pride Toronto rules may be subject to sanctions, including being denied the right to participate in the current or future Parades or marches. (Appendix A)"

Since al-QuAIA very clearly promotes a message that encourages hatred towards Israeli Jews, it seems a no-brainer that they should not be allowed to participate. Pride shouldn't need to pass the buck to the City to make a determination on that. But experience shows that in some quarters, even a "no-brainer" should not be taken for granted.

The York Regional Police's rabbi and the homophobia controversy

I didn't even know the York Regional Police had a rabbi before this!

According to the Gay community newspaper Xtra:

York Regional Police (YRP) inspectors have wrapped up an internal investigation of their in-house rabbi, launched in response to a complaint about a "very homophobic"sermon.  

The "letter of concern" was filed by Kulanu Toronto, an advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Jews, against Rabbi Mendel Kaplan, the Jewish chaplain for YRP. In his sermon, given just before Toronto Pride 2010, Kaplan instructed his followers to not support Kulanu or the Pride parade, referring to gays as "an abomination," says Justine Apple, executive director of Kulanu... 

Ricky Veerappan, an inspector in the diversity and cultural research bureau of YRP, says police could not substantiate the allegations of hate rhetoric. 

“We looked at it from a purely religious perspective,” he says. “Experts agreed that the content was technically correct. I’m in no position to judge if that’s hateful.” 

...Kaplan gave his sermon after Kulanu published a full-page advertisement in the Toronto Star just before the 2010 Pride parade. “The rabbi got a hold of the ad and presented it to his synagogue members while he spoke.

“The ad was a call-out to people to come and march with us because of the whole QuAIA [Queers Against Israeli Apartheid] controversy, so we wanted community support,” she says. But Kaplan used that advertisement to blast the gay community.

Kaplan tells Xtra he stands by his comments. “I took exception to [homosexuality] and I continue to take exception to it.”

The Xtra article includes an interesting email exchange between Kaplan and the Canadian Jewish Congress' Bernie Farber.

Like Apple, Farber questions whether Kaplan is the most appropriate choice to represent YRP. "That's what has to be answered."

"It's not enough to say, 'It's in the Bible and that makes it OK,' even if that may be true," Farber says. "Does it make it right to take it one step further and take that position as a public official? That's a serious question that deserves a thoughtful answer, and we have not heard that yet."

Veerappan says the police investigation concluded in January with the decision that Kaplan would remain a police chaplain.

Stephen Fry gets in trouble for telling the truth about women's attitude towards sex and relationships

English writer, actor, director, thinker Renaissance Man, Stephen Fry is in hot water with English women and the Looney Left these days for saying that women use sex in order to get relationships.

Duh.

As far as I'm concerned, that's about the equivalent of getting in trouble with Jack Daniels for saying drinking a bottle of their whiskey makes you drunk.

Fry, who is Gay, was being a bit tongue-in-cheek in his interview with Attitude magazine when he suggested he felt sorry for straight men because women only want sex in order to have a relationship.

He said: “I think most straight men feel they disgust women. They find it difficult to believe that women are as interested in sex as they are. For good reason. If women liked sex as much as men there would be straight cruising areas in the way there are gay cruising areas. 

“I feel sorry for straight men. The only reason women will have sex with them is that sex is the price they are willing to pay for a relationship with a man, which is what they want. They want a boyfriend and then they want commitment.

“Of course a lot of women will deny this and say, ‘Oh, no, but I love sex, I love it!’ But do they go around having it the way that gay men do?

Now for anyone who's dated more than three women, you'd figure most of what he's saying is somewhat obvious, but even so, it's riled up the leftist British sisterhood.

The Guardian has published a flurry of letters from women who have chosen to ignore both the humor of his comments or their context or the substance of womens' preference for relationships over meaningless sex, and fixate on the "cruising" aspect such as:

"Can you honestly say that it is frigidity rather than the very real threat of violence, coercion and assault that prevents women from stalking parks looking for a sexual liaison? I find the idea of walking across a park after dark extremely risky (not risqué), let alone trusting that I could engage in a sexual encounter there that I knew would be pleasurable rather than abusive.

Surely the idea of sex without consequences is contingent upon the likelihood of not actually having to face any consequences. There are very few women who have grown up without experiencing some form of verbal assault, unwanted sexual attention, or much worse, that has sharpened their awareness of the need to acknowledge their own vulnerability.

These experiences mean that there is a difficult line to walk between consensual sex and coercion which makes it difficult to relate to Fry's glib comments"

It also inspired a Guardian column from someone named Hephzibah Anderson. She is the author of  something called, "Chastened: My Modern Adventure in Old-Fashioned Romance."  In her outrage, Ms Anderson graces us with the information that  "A while ago, I did actually elect to go a year without sex. It wasn't easy, Mr Fry, but it was rewarding."  She also provides:

"There have always been women who've used sex to barter with (and that doesn't mean they didn't also enjoy it), but if it's mistakenly used today to secure emotional engagement, that's because it's become downright eccentric to insist on commitment before hopping into bed with someone. Men have long sought to control female sexuality and, despite endless talk of G-spots and foreplay, the sex that surrounds us today is of a decidedly masculine sensibility. According to Fry, a woman may only prove that she's not a frigid man-hater – that she's enlightened enough to be fully in touch with her female sexuality – by catering to male peccadilloes. Gay male peccadilloes at that."

The Telegraph described this tempest in a teapot as "Stephen Fry angers feminists by claiming women do not enjoy sex" and characterized his humorous comments as a "bizarre outburst in which he claimed that women are incapable of enjoying sex."

What I find bizarre is the twisting of his words and the overblown reaction to all of this.

The Telegraph reported,  "Fry’s remarks have been branded “rubbish” and "madness" by feminists who have questioned his qualifications for making pronouncements on female sexuality."

Fry has close to 2 million twitter followers and on the subject he tweeted: "So some f------- paper misquotes a humorous interview I gave, which itself misquoted me and now I'm the Antichrist. I give up."

Don't give up, Stephen. If you do, the bad people win.

Republicans made significant inroads among gay and lesbian voters in the midterm elections, with national exit polls for the House races showing that the GOP captured 31 percent of the vote of this group this year, compared to 19 percent in 2008... 

The Log Cabin Republicans have also been taking on a more visible role, bringing the suit arguing that Don't Ask, Don't Tell is unconstitutional. R. Clarke Cooper, executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, is proud of the fact that 12 of the 17 candidates the group endorsed went on to win their races.

Log Cabin Republicans deliver on what Obama couldn't (or wouldn't)

The Gay Republican group, The Log Cabin Republicans, were one of two plaintiffs in a case calling for an immediate injunction so the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in the US armed services could no longer be used against any U.S. military personnel anywhere in the world.

They were successful today when U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips ruled in their favor.

She said the Log Cabin Republicans "established at trial that the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Act irreparably injures servicemembers by infringing their fundamental rights." She said the policy violates due process rights, freedom of speech and the right to petition the government for redress of grievances guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Neighborhood comes together to drive off religious bigots

This happened in an east end Toronto neighbourhood. It's too bad this had to go on for 7 years before the neighbors finally got fed up.

The person who posted the video described it as follows:

"This is a group from a church at the end of my street. Apparently they have been grouping in front of a gay couple's house and reading their bible loudly for the past 7 years. They may have also driven a lesbian couple from the area as well by doing the same thing. Tonight most of our neighbours came out and were successful in getting them to leave"

The Father of Gay Zombie Art-Porn has film banned from Australian Film Festival

Bruce LaBruce's Gay zombie porn film, LA Zombie, has been refused classification and effectively banned from the Melbourne International Film Festival.

This is probably the best outcome Canadian director LaBruce could have hoped for. The banning of his film has generated more publicity than the movie itself could have.

I once saw a LaBruce movie at a film festival; its title escapes me, but the content consisted of Gay men thrash dancing, inter-cut with scenes of hard core male pornography, all done to the music of The Carpenters.

LaBruce, made another Gay zombie movie called Otto which premiered at the Sundance festival in 2008.

While I don't find LaBruce's films to be particularly engaging, I do have to salute him for single-handedly creating a new oeuvre of film.
