Post-Secondary Students being used as political pawns by their Student Unions
If you attend a school that has a student union that is affiliated with the Canadian Federation of Students ( CFS ), you already, by default, whether you like it or not, are being forced into a political affiliation with groups whose actions are often questionable and possibly even dangerous, and your student union is putting you into that danger. CFS affiliated student unions are usually highly radical and far too often, have a significant anarchist component to them. This anarchist affiliation may be by extension through student groups and / or events run by the student union with invited groups being participants.

Anti-G20 activist sentenced to jail for eating children after luring them to her gingerbread house

G20 protest ringleader Amanda Hiscocks says she has no respect for the legal system, and her supporters demonstrated that in spades Friday, throwing a Toronto courthouse into chaos for nearly two hours before the accused was jailed for 16 months.
..Judge Budzinski, who repeatedly interjected during her address, suggested Ms. Hiscocks was hypocritical to denounce elitism while advocating a method of protest that violently invaded public space and silenced opposing views. “The group itself [was] becoming an elite and taking over the city… Violence distracted from any legitimacy in the message,” he said of the G20 riots.

She is a volunteer coordinator at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Public Interest Research Group. The various Canadian University so-called "Public Interest Research Groups" are bodies that students are, with the complicity of radical-dominated, professional paid student union leaders, forced to fund. The Public Interest Research Groups are hotbeds of fanaticism that celebrate violence and demonstrate little regard for democratic values.

Incompetence and lack of accountability characterizes University of Toronto's Student Union

U of T's situation reiterates the case against mandatory student unions
At times during the meeting, UTSU President Danielle Sandhu and chair of the meeting Ashkon Hashemi appeared to grow irritated, repeatedly calling for order and ruling many speakers out of order in mid-speech.“It was disappointing to see at a time where students need to be united that a few members disingenuously disrupted the meeting,” said Sandhu in a statement issued to The Varsity after the meeting. “It was clear that these members were unfortunately aiming to create controversy at the meeting.”
Hashemi didn’t permit any questions on specifics of the union’s finances. Member inquiries concerning a $200,000 increase in staffing costs and an $80,000 expenditure on office inventory were not allowed. Also unaddressed was the union’s operating deficit from last year.
Asked for the specific cost of union-led advocacy during the provincial election, Sandhu declined to provide any specific figures and referred the student to another committee. Pressed for an answer outside the meeting, Sandhu responded that “if members have questions about the finances of the Union, they can come to the Union office at any time and learn more.”
By-law amendments
A handful of union by-law amendments also proved to be a source of contention. In an apparent mix-up, union executives and the public appeared to be working from two different versions of the by-laws. The version online were referred to repeatedly by members in attendance but seemed to differ from the hard-copy version used by the executive.

Vancouver Public Library lends its support to the destruction of Israel
A seminar called "Beyond the Palestinian Statehood Initiative -Freeing Palestine and Delegitimizing Israel" is planned to occur at the Vancouver Public Library at 350 West Georgia Street on Sunday September 18.
The purpose of the event is not one of information, but an opportunity for coordination by people who seek to eliminate the existence of Israel as a Jewish state. In fact, one of the speakers, Charlotte Kates, has, according to Front Page Magazine reportedly said that Israeli children are "legitimate" targets for suicide bombing and has called for the destruction of Israel "by any means necessary."
Included within the seminar are sessions entitled "Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions: Global Solidarity for Palestine" and "Canada and Israel: Settler-Colonial United Front" suggesting these people are the same sort of vapid hypocrites who declared that Canada and Israel are both apartheid states, yet many of whom are involved in movements that advocate for the most repressive state sponsor of terror in the world.
It's probably no coincidence that this meeting is being held in a public library on the doorstep of Libby Davies' East Vancouver riding. Davies, the NDP Member of Parliament for the riding with the highest per capita ratio of crackheads and junkies in Canada has endorsed a boycott of Israel, the only liberal democracy in its region, and has boasted of attendance at a rally featuring a French politician who was tried for anti-Semitism.
In their hatred for Israel, the fanatics who plan to gather in a publicly financed library are more extreme than the leadership of the Palestinian Authority. As they put it:

Saeb Erekat of the PA recently stressed that the PA has no desire to "delegitimize Israel," using the same term as the organized Zionist movement in denouncing the "delegitimization of Israel." In fact, delegitimizing the illegitimate is precisely the struggle of the Palestinian movement for liberation - and exactly the goal of BDS.The mayor of Vancouver is Gregor Robertson. For the sake of decency, he has an obligation to speak out against an abuse of city facilities for the purpose of spreading bigotry and hatred.
