Confirming yet again that the halls of academia are no place for interpreting things, a New Jersey professor was suspended over a Game Of Thrones T-shirt whose tagline—the Daenerys Targaryen quote, “I Will Take What Is Mine With Fire & Blood”—was interpreted by his colleague as a threat. The incident came about after Francis Schmidt, who teaches art and animation at Bergen Community College, posted a photo of his daughter doing a yoga pose in the shirt to his Google+ account, where it was seen by the people who actually use Google+, such as easily riled deans. Said dean reportedly called for an emergency meeting, concerned that this small, unsettlingly agile girl in a T-shirt was Schmidt’s way of announcing his intention to claim all the spoils a New Jersey community college has to offer, by force if necessary...

UKIP suspends Councillor who blamed gay marriage for bad weather

Responding to outrage, The United Kingdom Independence Party leader Nigel Farage suspended Councillor David Silvester:

Nigel Farage hit back at attacks on Ukip, after he suspended a councillor who blamed the Christmas and New Year floods on David Cameron’s decision to legalise gay marriage.

David Silvester claimed last week that the country had been ‘beset by storms’ because the Prime Minister had acted ‘arrogantly against the Gospel’ by passing same-sex marriage laws.

Ukip’s leadership had originally refused to discipline Mr Silvester, 73, a town councillor in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, saying that everyone was entitled to their religious views.

But he was finally suspended yesterday afternoon after defying a request not to do further interviews on his beliefs. 

However, Mr Farage today suggested that the remarks had only become a story after Mr Silvester joined Ukip from the Tory party, where he had previously aired similar views.

Farage has disciplined a nutcase in his party, but still nothing from Labour Party leader  Ed Miliband on the latest online outburst from his idiot MP Grahame Morris, who implied an equivalence between Nazi Germany and Israel yesterday.

Does the Toronto District School Board need "Gender Independent Groups" for kids in kindergarten???

 

We're told by third-rate academics in Gender Studies programs that gender is a social construct.  

On the other hand, neuroscientists and biologists know that there are distinct differences between male and female humans which are not only physiological, but affect thinking patterns and behavior.  For that matter, so does anyone with minimal observational ability and a modicum of common sense.

Those of us who have children, or remembers anything of their own childhood, are aware of the natural differences between the sexes and that gender and sex are just two sides of the same coin. Many of which have obvious evolutionary purposes, since females are the ones who must gestate and nurture children in their early stages.

So the "social construct" of "Gender Independent" children is in all likelihood one imposed on them by idiot, activist parents and despicable, ideologically-driven educational theorists determined to use  children as Guinea Pigs in a social experiment destined to colossal failure.

The Toronto District School Board and Ontario's Ministry of Education are the enablers of this depravity and are pushing it to children as young as age 5.

New Year's eve celebrations are a Jewish plot that must be cancelled according to Malaysian Muslim group

A Malaysian Muslim group has called for New Year’s celebrations to be cancelled because they reflect Jewish culture and will cause Muslim youths to commit sins.

A top Muslim cleric in the Asian state also said the New Year should be recognised with pray and religious speeches rather than parties.

“The celebrations will have excessive entertainment, which can cause the majority of Muslim youth to let their guard down and commit a lot of sin,” Malaysia International Institute of Islamic Cooperation (Ikiam) Datuk Mustapha Idrus was quoted as saying by Malay daily Sinar Harian.

But why worry? After all the TDSB is run with a degree of incompetence that suggests corruption, it'll probably be bankrupt in a few years anyway.

Socialist Studies Forces The Student School To Kill Its Facebook Page after exposing its political fanaticism and links to Holocaust-denying website

The hateful so-called "Social Justice" campaign at the alternative "The Student School" has been yet another episode in a long list of recent idiotic blunders coming from Toronto District School Board.

The Holocaust-denying website Veterans Today was one of many odious sources that got approbation from The Student School, as well as one of it's teachers "liking" a comment that called Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper a "fascist."

It was the blog Socialist Studies which first noted the disgraceful activities at this publicly funded school. Socialist Studies has diligently investigated and continues to report a series of abuses of public trust by Ontario's School Boards and Teachers' Unions.

As a result, The Student School has killed its facebook page.

In a way that's a result. But I fear the same reprehensible activities will continue there, only now The Student School will be more secretive about them.

The government was determined to shut down the Muslim Brotherhood (an ally of Hamas) and unlikely to look kindly on a couple of foreigners who decided to film a bloody crackdown.

I think Jon's article is overly optimistic in its assessment that the Greyson/Loubani saga will refocus the Canadian radical left away from its anti-Israel depravity onto real human rights crises, but he does make some very valid observations about the other facets of this episode.

Toronto District School Board starts school year off with a bang: One of its schools endorses Holocaust-denying, 9/11 conspiracy website and calls PM Harper a "fascist"

The Toronto District School Board's "Student School` is a bizarre melange of lunatic, pro-Communist insanity that eats up tax dollars.

Does that sound a bit reactionary and hyperbolic?

It would, until one looks at the material the school has posted lauding the Communist serial-killer Che Guevara and decrying capitalism.

But it gets worse.

Throughout the Toronto District School Board, seminars are regularly conducted for students and parents teaching them about the perils of social media.

Ironically, the TDSB is the last source one should look to for instruction in that area.

The school has a facebook page, maintained by "The Student School" itself and just before the school years starts today, it endorsed an article from the anti-Semitic, Holocaust-denying, 9-11 conspiracy website Veterans Today.

The article in question was republished from the English-language propaganda service of the Islamic Republic of Iran, PRESS TV. There is a great deal of cross-over material from PRESS TV and Veterans Today, as both services have anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial as part of their core values, along with an absolute detestation of the West in general and the United States government  in particular.

The article alleges that it was "confirmed" that Canada's 2011 election was "fraudulent." That assertion is based on false reports of election fraud in Canada and the article seemed to be culled entirely from an earlier PRESS TV video report by a hysterical 9-11 conspiracy theorist named Joshua Blakeney.

Iran has had a serious axe to grind against Canada since the latter suspended diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic last year. Iran has used PRESS TV to produce preposterous conspiracy-type reports about Canada ever since, many of which are the work of Blakeney.

Betraying its radical ignorance to an alarming extent is the school's facebook "liking" of a comment by a student who calls Prime Minister Stephen Harper a "fascist."

It is hardly a surprise that a school that promotes deranged conspiracy theories would lack the basic understanding of such concepts as fascism. However, for a tax-funded Toronto public school to be promoting such not just erroneous, but detestable values to impressionable students should seem incredible.

Or at least it would be incredible, unless one has followed the history of incompetence and promotion of fanatical, radical ideas at the TDSB, Canada's most dysfunctional school board.

UPDATE: The heat from this post got their notice and the TDSB personnel  running "The Student School" facebook page removed the Veterans Today link.

However they still have a link up to an anti-Israel YouTube video from Iran's English-language propaganda service, and the page is replete with anti-Israel, pro-Communist postings.


Which means the hypocrites employed by the TDSB's only worry was getting caught, but they weren't quite bright enough to figure out what the fuss was about.
