BBC News snuck a team into Syria and produced  this shocking video of the civil war currently underway.

The Dog Blood Libel

A bunch of reports are circulating about a dog that wandered into a Jewish religious court in Jerusalem being sentenced to death by stoning because it was supposedly the reincarnation of a deceased, cursed lawyer.

The BBC publicised the story ending it with their own fatuous comment that "Dogs are often considered impure animals in traditional Judaism." Evidently the genius experts at the Beeb don't understand the difference between Judaism, that doesn't take a detrimental view of canines and Islam, which does.

The story, as it turns out, was completely false. Jewish law explicitly forbids cruelty to animals and the rabbi who was accused by the media issued a statement saying there was no excuse for abusing animals according to Jewish religious law or otherwise. He added that workers from a local animal shelter had come to collect the dog from his courtroom that day.

But we probably won't hear the real story from the BBC.

Wilileaks show BBC may have been part of al-Qaida's propaganda network

A phone number of someone at the BBC was found in phone books and programmed into the mobile phones of a number of militants seized by the Americans. 

The number is believed believed to be based at Bush House, the headquarters of the BBC World Service...

The US assessment file said forces had uncovered many ‘extremist links’ to the BBC number – indicating that extremists could have made contacts with employees at the broadcaster who were sympathetic to extremists or had information on ‘ACM’ (anti-Coalition militia) activities.

I'm surprised a number at The Toronto Star hasn't turned up there too.

Martin Amis: 'If I had a serious brain injury I might well write a children's book'

Best-selling, critically acclaimed British author Martin Amis has offended children's literature authors with his recent comments in an interview on BBC TV.

"People ask me if I ever thought of writing a children's book," Amis said, in a sideways excursion from a chat about John Self, the antihero of his 1984 novel Money. "I say, 'If I had a serious brain injury I might well write a children's book', but otherwise the idea of being conscious of who you're directing the story to is anathema to me, because, in my view, fiction is freedom and any restraints on that are intolerable."  

"I would never write about someone that forced me to write at a lower register than what I can write," he added.  

But in an angry blog response on her website, author Lucy Coats, whose books include the Greek Beasts and Heroes series and novel Hootcat Hill, called Amis's remark "arrogant twaddle" with an "implicit insult to those of us who do write children's books".  

And writer Jane Stemp, whose book The Secret Songs was shortlisted for the 1998 Guardian children's fiction award, and who has cerebral palsy, said: "I have brain damage ... So Amis couldn't have insulted me harder if he'd sat down and thought about it for a year. Superglueing him to a wheelchair and piping children's fiction into his auditory canal suddenly seems like a good idea."

Of course if you're an OISE student, you probably don't need to bother. You might have heard there that anti-Semitism doesn't significantly exist anymore and is being exploited by Jews who are the beneficiaries of "white privilege" and exploit racist ideologies for their own benefit.

One wonders if the The Protocols of the Elders of  Zion is going to make the OISE curriculum any time soon.
