Bupkis Bernie, Sea Hitler Sandy and self-promoters for whom "Jew" is a résumé item

Going from being a big shot to bupikis affects some people worse than others. Some do it with grace, and others have an excruciating time letting go.

Bernie Farber was, for a very long time, one of Canada's best-known "official Jews." I never met a Jew who ever had the opportunity to elect Farber to speak on their behalf, and most of the ones I know shake their head with shame when he speaks as a "representative of Canada's Jewish community." But since there's no formal qualification for the position other than a few lazy mainstream media sources quoting you as such, he got the job.

Bernie was once head of the now defunct Canadian Jewish Congress. Now he's not.

But that hasn't stopped him from continuing to put himself forward as an official Jew. Now the causes that Bernie is pushing have put him pretty close with some of the reprehensible characters in a hateful anti-Israel movement reviled by almost every Jew in Canada.

That includes a special, fatuous breed of Jew like Sea Hitler Sandy Ruch who has decided that aligning herself with causes promoting the anti-Semitic, Holocaust denying regime in Iran is a good idea.  For people like Ruch and oddball fanatics at fringe groups like those calling themselves Independent Jewish Voices, "Jew" is less a commitment to system of religious beliefs than it is a resume item and attempt to give cover for the Jew hate of their anti-Semitic associates. 

The Bernie Farbers of this world have the right to their opinions and their causes. But until he or those like him are elected Pope of the Jews, they should not claim to be speaking for them.

One of the leaders of Canada's radical left acknowledges they are acting out from emotional damage

Anyone who has interacted with radical leftists will notice certain consistent attributes among them.

They are highly emotional and irrational. Their conclusions are not based on logical assessments of a situation, but on their personal identification with one party and the projection of their own emotional damage into incommensurable issues.

One can easily observe this phenomenon repeated over and over. It is evident in the histrionic behavior of Code Pink activist Sandra Ruch and the rest of her crew during their failed effort to sail The Sea Hitler to Gaza to try to break an embargo against the terrorist group Hamas. It's evident in the unbalanced behaviour of OCAP activists who disrupted a Toronto City Council meeting a few months ago. It's evident among radical university professors who are mired in marginal areas of study, such as "Critical Race Theory" "Gender Studies" and others permeated with self-absorbed nonsense that bears little relevance to the rest of the world.

While people not directly involved with radical, anti-capitalist politics recognize the absurdities of that movement, it is interesting to note that some rare self-insight has been exhibited by the Godmother of Canadian radicalism, Judy Rebick.

In an article at rabble.ca, the radical leftist website she founded, Rebick wrote:

In addition to the sadness about the state of society and of nature, almost all of us whatever oppression we might have experienced for social or economic reasons suffer from some kind of deep personal wounds. And if we don't face that sadness, that pain, we will inflict it on ourselves and others in a way that is hurtful. Much of the dysfunction on the Left comes not from political differences which can be creative and productive but from people acting out this pain. We become part of the problem instead of the part of the solution.

I was in therapy at the time when I was most busy and most recognized as an activist. I went through a lot of change both from the activism and from the therapy but I kept the therapy private. Only a few close friends knew what I was going through. We have privatized our emotional problems.

When psychiatrists assess people with mental illness, one of the considerations in the diagnosis that is a predictor of an individual's capability to respond to treatment is their insight into their condition. Rebick frequently makes statements that suggest that she is detached from reality, but she is not unintelligent.  Most of her cohorts in the radical left lack her intellect, such as it is, but have an even lesser degree of understanding of their own issues, to say nothing of the political postures they uncomprehendingly assume.

Whether or not the radical anti-capitalist movement can recognize that a great deal of what they do is an unfortunate outgrowth of their tainted psyches, Rebick's admission contributes the basis for understanding what really drives the Far Left.

This time, they managed to have Ruch speak while not showing a picture behind her of the Ayatollah Khomeini, who founded the regime whose interests the Sea Hitler is serving.

Who really is behind the Sea Hitler

Sandra Ruch is a local leader of the effort to launch the Sea Hitler, the Canadian boat attempting to break Israel's blockade against Iranian arms smuggling to its proxy group Hamas in Gaza.

She claims to be concerned about "human rights," but Ms Ruch's endeavours in that area are evidently limited to attempting to deny Israel, a pluralistic democracy, the same right to self-defense as any other country in the world.

Ms Ruch appears to have a desperate psychological need for acceptance and attention that manifests itself in histrionic gestures, like her attempt to occupy the Israeli consulate in Toronto along with Jenny Peto, the author of a notorious anti-Semitic OISE thesis.

 Iranian interests lurk behind the Sea Hitler

Israel, which just hosted a huge Gay Pride parade in Tel Aviv, has laws protecting Gay rights, women's rights and affords all religions the right to unfettered practice. This stands in stark contrast to Iran, which executes people merely for being Gay, uses rape an a sanctioned form of punishment for women in prison, and whose officials carried out the prison torture, rape and murder of Canadian-Iranian journalist Zahra Kazemi. Iran`s Mullah-ocracy persecutes practioners of religions other than Shia Islam, including the peaceful Baha'i minority.

The Baha`ì religion, which originated in Iran, now has its world headquarters in Haifa, Israel; in the only middle eastern country that actually does allow religious freedom.

No honest, sane person could actually claim to support human rights while showing support for the Iranian Khomeinist regime. It only compounds such foolishness to do so while criticizing Israel, whose human rights record surpasses Iran's beyond measure.

So it is interesting to note whose large portrait one of Ms Ruch's group is holding up for her backdrop as part of the Sea Hitler effort.

The only interests that are being served by the Sea Hitler are of Hamas and its master, Iran. By proudly associating with the Khomeinist regime at Sea Hitler rallies, some of Iran's useful idiots display contempt for real human rights along with an ignorance of the hypocritical ramifications of their tacit support for terrorism.
