TORONTO - The Ontario Municipal Board is unaccountable, out-of-control and too often bows to developers, say its critics.
It’s adversarial in nature, costly for communities to fight and arbitrary in some of its decisions, they claim.
And it’s wreaking havoc on local decision-making, say planners, politicians and local resident groups who’ve tried battling high-handed decisions by the unelected body.
The OMB routinely overrules decisions made by local councils and has thwarted municipalities in their attempts to slow urban sprawl.

Time to take some of Ontario Municipal Board's power away
Personally, I think ALL its power should be taken away. The OMB is basically an arm of the development industry and it should be eliminated:
