Canada's Foreign Minister condemns and call for firing of UN Special Rapporteur for Palestine

The latest outburst from the demented rapporteur representing the ironically-named United Nations Human Rights Council has brought about another call for his dismissal from Canada's Foreign Minister, John Baird:

December 17, 2013 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:

“Canada completely rejects and condemns the appalling remarks made by Richard Falk, United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian territories, in which he accused Israel of ‘genocidal’ intentions.

“Canada has previously called for Falk to be fired for his numerous outrageous and anti-Semitic statements, and these comments underscore once more the complete and total absurdity of his service as a UN Special Rapporteur.

“I call on the United Nations Human Rights Council—once again—to remove Falk from his position immediately.

“Not only do these comments undermine the fundamental values of the United Nations, they also belittle the terrible genocides that have tragically taken place throughout history and around the world.”

John Kerry's State Department is funding Palestinian terrorism

...four members of Congress sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry requesting that the State Department provide detailed explanation as to how it monitors UNRWA's (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) educational programs and ensures that U.S. funding of UNRWA complies with applicable federal law. Moreover, the letter specifically referenced the film Camp Jihad, co-produced by The Lawfare Project and the Center for Near East Policy Research, and pressed Secretary Kerry as to whether the State Department had conducted any independent investigation of UNRWA in response to the film.

Tuesday's opening of yet another round of negotiations with Iran over its nuclear-weapons program creates enormous risks for America's anti-proliferation efforts. Tehran's extensive propaganda campaign, stressing the "moderation" of its new president, Hassan Rouhani, seems to be working, softening up the gullible in the United States and Europe.

As in previous iterations of the charade now reopening in Geneva, Iran's bargaining position benefits from our own repeated mistakes. The ayatollahs need only take advantage of these unforced errors, and success may well fall into their undeserving hands. Consider the most blatant errors that Iran is eager to exploit.

First, both Presidents Bush and Obama conceded that Iran was entitled to a "peaceful" nuclear program, for energy and scientific purposes. Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), however, that view is flatly wrong. By pursuing nuclear weapons for over two decades, Iran has violated key NPT provisions – notably, the obligation it freely undertook to be a non-nuclear weapons state. Tehran is not, therefore, entitled to claim benefits under NPT sections permitting peaceful uses of nuclear power.

Kelly McParland: Harper takes a pass on UN blowhard opportunity

Stephen Harper won’t address the UN General Assembly when it gathers in New York this week, just as he didn’t address it last year or the year before.

The Prime Minister will be in New York, but won’t make the trip to UN headquarters to join other government leaders at the podium. John Baird, the Foreign Affairs Minister, will get that honour, as he has for the past two years. Instead Harper will co-chair a session on health issues for women and children in developing countries, part of a Conservative initiative launched in 2010, and take part in a discussion on the economy at the Canadian-American Business Council.

New Democrats consider this an outrage. “It’s embarrassing that the Prime Minister — for the second year in a row — will be in New York during the opening ceremonies of the UN General Assembly, but apparently can’t be bothered to show up, stand up, and speak up on behalf of Canada,” intoned Paul Dewar, the NDP critic.

Mr. Dewar speaks before he thinks. Other than a few leaders — the U.S., China or Russia — General Assembly speeches draw little attention beyond the leader’s own delegation. But they’re very popular with international despots who enjoy the chance to harangue less repressive countries under the protection of the UN banner.

UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon acknowledges United Nations' bias against Israel

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met with students at the UN headquarters in Jerusalem on Friday afternoon, and admitted that his organization was biased against Israel.

Responding to a student who said Israelis felt their country was discriminated against in the international organization, Ban confirmed that there was a biased attitude towards the Israeli people and Israeli government, stressing that it was "an unfortunate situation."

The UN's anti-Semitic, 9-11 conspiracy theorist Richard Falk continued to disgrace the world body by appearing on "Truth Jihad" a radio show hosted by a delusional, lunatic hatemonger named Kevin Barrett.

Barrett, who writes for the innocuously-named but virulently anti-Semitic,  Holocaust-denying website Veterans Today, maintains the 9-11 al Qaida terror attacks are a "false flag operation" perpetrated as an excuse to wage a world war on all Muslims, among whom he numbers himself.

Current US President Obama reversed a decision of his predecessor and allowed American participation in the UN's discredited, ironically-named "Human Rights Council" that employs Falk. The UN"s Human Rights Council includes nations which are among the worst human rights violators on Earth.

Thanks to the Obama administration's decision, Falk's salary is paid, in part, by US taxpayers whom he continues to insult.

Richard Falk, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, is upset. Falk is demanding a full investigation of UN Watch. He wants the group stripped of its U.N. accreditation. Without that accreditation, which allows the organization to more freely attend and speak at U.N. meetings, UN Watch would find it much more difficult to fulfill its purpose.

So what has UN Watch done to earn Falk’s wrath? It has had the effrontery, the sheer, unmitigated gall, to . . . report what Richard Falk has said.

Watchdog group: Cuba cheated on its UN human rights review

Cuba committed “fraud … on a massive scale” to influence a U.N. review of its human rights record by using hundreds of “front groups” to submit comments favorable to the island, a watchdog group reported Thursday.

While 454 non-governmental organizations submitted comments for Cuba’s review, 48 NGOs commented on Canada’s — the second highest number of comments — and 32 on Russia’s, according to the report by the group UN Watch.

Although “critiques by genuine NGOs do appear, they are overwhelmed by an unprecedented amount of submissions by fraudulent ‘NGOs’ that, if they do exist, are mere puppets of Cuba and its allies abroad,” the report said.

Terror supporter Mona Saif nominated for Human Rights prize

An Egyptian activist who endorses terror groups that murder Israelis has been nominated for the Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders.

On the nominating jury were NGOs Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The award is supported by the governments of Ireland and Spain among others. Ironically, also among the groups supporting the award to someone who wants Jews dead is Sweden`s Raoul Wallenberg Institute, named after the hero who saved thousands of Jews during the Second World War.

If Ms Saif does win the award, the least they could do is rename it The Richard Falk Prize for Terrorist Supporters.

UN's anti-Semitic idiot rapporteur Richard Falk blames Israel for Boston Jihadi bombers

The American global domination project is bound to generate all kinds of resistance in the post-colonial world. In some respects, the United States has been fortunate not to experience worse blowbacks, and these may yet happen, especially if there is no disposition to rethink US relations to others in the world, starting with the Middle East. Some of us naively hoped that Obama’s Cairo speech of 2009 was to be the beginning of such a process of renewal, and although timid in many ways, it was yet possessed of a tonality candidly acknowledged that relations with the Islamic world needed fundamental moves by the US Government for the sake of reconciliation, including the adoption of a far more balanced approach to the Palestine/Israel impasse. But as the months passed, what became evident, especially given the strong pushback by Israel and its belligerent leader, Bibi Netanyahu, were a series of disappointing reactions by Obama, which could be described as an accelerating backpedaling in relation to opening political space in the Middle East.

Now at the start of his second presidential term, it seems that Obama has given up altogether, succumbing to the Beltway ethos of Israel First.
