Jewish Defense League head says Canadian correspondent for Iran's Press TV lied about receiving a threat from his organization

He has the appearance of someone who does his hair by dipping his head into a vat of sulfuric acid,  but his looks aren't the only thing about Iran's man in Canada, Joshua Blakeney, that has 'crazy' written all over it.

Blakeney is the Canadian correspondent for Iran's English-language propaganda service, Press TV, as well as the Canadian Bureau Chief for the antisemtic, Holocaust-denying website Veterans Today, and a sometime contributor to the Canadian left-wing hotbed for antisemitism, rabble.ca.

Today, Blakeney is trying to make a splash for himself by claiming he received a "threatening" email from the Jewish Defense League and his employers at Press TV have plastered it on the Internet.

Except that Meir Weinstein, in an email exchange with me, has explicitly denied that the JDL sent the email in question to Blakeney.

Blakeney alleges that the email purportedly from the JDL contains the sentence, "When we are attacked by hate-filled antisemites like you, we respond with all the resources at our disposal, and with extreme prejudice."

But bolstering JDL Director Weinstein's denial of the email originating with his group is the fact Blakeney has produced neither a name nor an email address associated with the supposed threat he claims to have received.

Along with his detestation of Israel, Blakeney is a well-known figure among Canadian 9-11 conspiracy theorists. If that isn't enough of an indication of Blakeney's challenges with rational thought, there is the line from his own website in which he brags his "work has been quoted and referred to in media venues including The National Post. "

What suggests there may be something very odd about Joshua Blakeney is that it doesn't require too subtle a reading of the National Post's articles referencing him to see they imply that the Canadian Press TV correspondent is a raving mental case. But I guess when you're as apparently detached from reality as Blakeney, there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

In an interview that Blakeney did with his bosses at Press TV, Blakeney claims he takes the JDL threat seriously. The reason being because a "German historian" had his house bombed, and Blakeney implies the JDL was involved with that.

The "German historian" to whom Blakeney referred was the notorious neo-Nazi Holocaust-denier Ernst Zundel. Describing Zundel as "German historian" would be akin to describing that neo-Nazi as a "human rights activist." For anyone who thinks that comparison is far-fetched, they have only to look at Blakeney's other employer, Veterans Today, which publishes pro-Nazi articles by Zundel's wife Ingrid and refers to Ernst Zundel, who served time in a German prison for promoting hate, as a "human rights activist."

JDL head Weinstein informed me that a writer for another of the websites for which Blakeney wrote, rabble.ca, contacted him in order to request an interview. However, Weinstein declined because he was concerned that the biases that guide everything written in rabble, which he also described as "an enabler of antisemitism," would make a fair report unlikely.

In response to that, the rabble.ca writer expressed umbrage and claimed such a statement is "potentially defamatory." It would be interesting to hear how a Canadian citizen is being 'defamatory' by taking the same view as the Canadian government.

Not only is rabble.ca an "enabler of antisemitism" but it promotes what the Canadian government defines as actual antisemitism with its sponsorship of antisemitic boycotts of Israel and the so-called "Israeli Apartheid Week," as well as articles in which it implies Canadian Jews' first loyalty is to Israel.

In his self-promoting article, Blakeney asserts that "academicians and law experts have advised me to take this threatening email to the authorities here in Canada. However, I am intuitively averse to having the state decide which emails are good and which are bad. I’d rather engage in debate and dialogue with my interlocutors." 

Among those encouraging Blakeney to take his email to the authorities is JDL Director Meir Weinstein.

The result of that could be almost as embarrassing for the Press TV correspondent as Blakeney proved for his alma mater, the University of Lethbridge. At Blakeney's behest, his school offered a pro forma congratulation to its oddball alumnus on getting a post at Veteran Today, then upon learning about the insane bigotry it promotes, they publicly retracted it. 

UPDATE (June 4): Jim Fetzer, an editor at Veterans Today,  the online home for deranged 9-11 conspiracy nuts, mindless Jew-haters, and suck-ups to Iran's dictatorship, has helpfully produced the email that Blakeney claims came from the Jewish Defense League. The email address on it is JDL.org@usa.com. That email address, I am informed, has absolutely nothing to do with the Jewish Defense League of Canada. USA.com is a free webmail service like hotmail, and anyone can take out an email account on it in any name they like.

The notorious "threatening" email (via Veterans Today)

The FBI in the United States has listed the Jewish Defense League as a banned terrorist organization in that country. The Jewish Defense League of Canada is peaceful, law-abiding organization has no affiliation with the banned US group, though the Veterans Today and Press TV "journalist" Blakeney and his editor evidently have no idea of that.

In response to this information, the Jewish Defense League of Canada's Director, Meir Weinstein, reiterated that if Joshua Blakeney has received a threat from any one or group, particularly one that purports, even as implausibly as in this case, to be from a representative of a listed terrorist group in the US, he should contact the relevant authorities so they can investigate it.

So it would appear that Blakeney received an anonymous threat and demonstrating his usual comical ineptitude, without even bothering to contact the Jewish Defense League of Canada, leaped to and publicized his erroneous assumption that they had threatened him.

Labour’s Member of Parliament for Easington in the north of England has provoked outrage today after insinuating that the Israeli flag in some way had a link to Nazism.

Grahame Morris, who was elected to the northern seat in 2010, has been tweeting aggressively anti-Israel statements for a while now, and today appeared to jump the shark from baseless criticism into overt anti-Semitism. “Nazis in my village,” he tweeted, “do you see that flag they fly[?]” implying some link between the two.

Pathologically stupid "Jewish Forward" writer implies anyone who makes fun of Obamacare Pajama Boy is a Nazi

An article in The Jewish Forward by Jay Michaelson, the vice president of the Arcus Foundation, the world's leading LGBT funder, as well as the founder of Nehirim, an LGBT Jewish organization, is so astoundingly ridiculous and idiotic, it seems as if it could only have been written for the satirical website The Onion.

But it wasn't. 

In a deadly serious tome, Michaelson reveals his bizarre pathologies, insecurities and incredible stupidity by suggesting you must be an anti-Semitic, homophobic Nazi if you make fun of the epicene spokesthingee for Obamacare known as Onesie Pajama Boy.

Whether or not the Pajama-Boy bashers are unconsciously anti-Semitic or not, I don’t know. Consciously, they are against everything “Judaism” stands for, at least as construed by its enemies: outsiderness, cosmopolitanism, liberalism, a progressive rather than nativist agenda, an opposition to the notion that there is one kind of “normal” person, a sympathy for the underdog and the immigrant as opposed to the successful and the privileged, and, yes, a rejection of a certain gendered, masculinist understanding of justice wherein the strong survive and the weak are trampled underfoot like the untermenschen they are.

That fascistic outlook has long been a part of far-right conservatism – whether in revisionist Zionism, contemporary French/Hungarian/Greek nationalism, American Republicanism, or German fascism.

For some time, imbecile leftists have lobbed the term "fascist"  at anyone who disagrees with their sanctimonious ignorance.

But even so, by making weird allegations without an iota of substantiation, other than whatever is going on within his own unhinged thought processes,  it's rare that they go to the lengths Michaelson did to demonstrate the extent to which subservience to certain leftist ideologies resembles mental illness.

Canada's Foreign Minister condemns and call for firing of UN Special Rapporteur for Palestine

The latest outburst from the demented rapporteur representing the ironically-named United Nations Human Rights Council has brought about another call for his dismissal from Canada's Foreign Minister, John Baird:

December 17, 2013 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:

“Canada completely rejects and condemns the appalling remarks made by Richard Falk, United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian territories, in which he accused Israel of ‘genocidal’ intentions.

“Canada has previously called for Falk to be fired for his numerous outrageous and anti-Semitic statements, and these comments underscore once more the complete and total absurdity of his service as a UN Special Rapporteur.

“I call on the United Nations Human Rights Council—once again—to remove Falk from his position immediately.

“Not only do these comments undermine the fundamental values of the United Nations, they also belittle the terrible genocides that have tragically taken place throughout history and around the world.”

Just in case you needed confirmation that Toronto Councillor Shelley Carroll is an idiot

One of the reasons that embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's support is holding so firm, aside from his sincere efforts to curb wasteful municipal spending, is one of default. It's that his City Council opponents are blithering idiots who are salivating at the prospect at getting their grubby hands back inside your wallets. 

One such example is Shelley Carroll, a posturing, juvenile grandstander who is obviously exactly as bright as she presents.

According to The Toronto Sun:

Carroll suggested Ford was holding up that police probe by “hiding behind his lawyer” and refusing to meet with investigators.

“We are now at the point where I can’t think of any Torontonian who would have been able to put off answering questions for the police who have politely asked for this long,” Carroll said.   

Evidently Ms Carroll is unaware that unlike Stalin's Russia or Castro's Cuba, a state that has the affinity of the left wing of Toronto's City Council, Canadians cannot be legally compelled to speak to police.

They can be arrested if police believe they have sufficient grounds to lay charges (which they evidently do not in the case of Ford) , but even then they cannot be forced to answer police questions. We have this thing called a Constitution and a Charter of Rights, plus long-standing British legal traditions which deal with these matters.

It couldn't be that Ms Carroll was having some drug-induced hallucination where she thought we were all living in the sort of police state we would have if she and her ilk were ever placed in charge, could it?

Toronto Star: Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka aren't murderers, they're freedom fighters

The Toronto Star puts these two on the same moral plain:
One fought to defend Osama bin Laden and to keep women from the right to education
and the other fought for racial equality

What's that?  The Star hasn't quite bestowed the term `freedom fighter` on Bernardo and Homokla yet?

It's probably just a matter of time. I always thought The Star's columnist Thomas Walkom was an idiot and now the element of doubt has evaporated. 

Because Nelson Mandela used violence, apparently in Walkom`s tiny bubble of comprehension, any bloodthirsty murdering maniac or moral imbecile who supports killing, as long as that killing is for a cause, is potentially a freedom fighter.

And because Mandela supported totalitarian dictators like Ghaddafi and Castro and terrorists like the PLO, they're probably pretty good too, because after all, Mandela was an infallible god, wasn't he?

Removed from Walkom's thought process, such as it is, is any moral compass or standard of values, to say nothing of tactics, that differentiate terrorists from people legitimately fighting for liberty. Also removed from that equation is the heresy that while Mandela was a man of courage, dignity, and determination, and exhibited great wisdom in many instances, in many others he was emotionally and philosophically married to some reprehensible ideologies and individuals.

So, just so it's easy, here's a simple rule-of-thumb that even someone so thoroughly stupid and morally bankrupt as a Toronto Star editorial columnist should be able to understand:

If you kill and commit violence against innocent people for political purposes, you're a terrorist. Similarly, if you're fighting to support or aiding people who do that, you're a supporter of terrorism. 

It's pretty easy. The old, vapid, banal saying 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter' is something idiots say to try to justify their moral bankruptcy and intellectual limitations.

George Washington was not a terrorist, because he never ordered or condoned the killing or systematic mistreatment of civilians. The government of Iran are terrorists because they have ordered and executed the killings of innocent people with no connection to any military or political role, far from any combat area, for political ends. And if, like Castro, you throw someone in jail or have them executed for publicly disagreeing with you, then you're on that same sunken moral plain.

See? It's simple.

I don't really expect anyone at The Star to actually follow a rule as straightforward as this though. Because with it, there's just no way Rob Ford can fall into that terrorist category.

Obama's deal with Iran is as good as Chamberlain's with Hitler

Like Neville Chamberlain waving his "peace in our time sell-out deal with Adolf Hitler, Barack Obama is trying to spin his bumbling failure and the manipulation of him by Iran's mullahs as a "victory."  It doesn't take a crystal ball to see that Barack Obama will be judged by history as an empty suit filled only with articulate platitudes.

With the disaster of Obamacare and now the inept nuclear deal with Iran just negotiated by his Administration, even Democrats have become nostalgic for George W. Bush, whom Obama has made into a great President by comparison. Worse still for the Democrats, they are beginning to realize that they will pay a heavy price for Obama's incompetence, both in next year's midterm Congressional elections and the Presidential one two years later.

The only "victory" to be found in Obama's lethal incompetence was handed to the totalitarians in Iran, who are now boasting that the deal they just signed gives them both the ability to enrich uranium, with which they will be able to build nuclear weapons and it removes the international sanctions that had crippled the country for years.

We now live in the most dangerous times in human history. Barack Obama has laid out the groundwork for the next World War, the one we have always dreaded - the one that will be fought with the nuclear weapons America's worst ever President placed in the hands of Iran's apocalyptic sociopaths.

Weird British Jew hate: Oxford professor blames Muslim persecution of Christians on Jews

What's worse than the silence of Western Christians concerning the Muslim persecution of their coreligionists in the Islamic world? Answer: Cynically exploiting that persecution for a political agenda—in the case of a recent Daily Beast article, to excoriate the state of Israel and its supporters. 

Titled "Why Won't the West Defend Middle Eastern Christians?" and written by Diarmaid MacCulloch, a Fellow of St. Cross College, the article touches on the persecution of Christians, but primarily as a springboard to attack American Christian support for Israel. Consider the following excerpt:

… one of the silences which I find most frustrating is precisely the lack of noise from Western Christians about the fate of ancient Christianities in the Middle East. At the heart of the problems in the Middle East is seven decades of unresolved conflict between Israel and Palestine… 

Yes, Western silence vis-à-vis the plight of Mideast Christians is as real as it is frustrating, but exactly how is MacCulloch able to jump to the conclusion that the Arab-Israeli conflict is "the heart" of the problem?

The Hypocrisy of Using TIFF as a Political Platform

So filmmaker John Greyson's friends use the platform of TIFF to clamour for his release from an Egyptian jail. Academics, actors, writers and other filmmakers of international repute. That's what friends do for friends, right?

But hold on for a minute. Let's review some of that equation.

Let's first talk about the sheer hypocrisy of using TIFF as a platform, and then we'll focus on working in the field and getting arrested in the first place.

This is the same John Greyson who, in 2009, used the same TIFF platform to make a very vocal protest against the Festival's "City to City" spotlight on Tel Aviv.

And in protest he withdrew his short film, Covered.

Greyson criticized "the opportunism of TIFF, which seems increasingly eager to court dubious partnerships, such as the Israeli consulate's 'Brand Israel Campaign,'" and asked about "the extent of Israeli sponsorship."
