Iran misses nuclear talks deadline - incurs risk of an Obama scowl while he extends deadline and hands them $2.8 Billion

Oh, no! We missed another nuclear talk "deadline." Hahahahahaha!

Today in Barack Obama making Neville Chamberlain look like Teddy Roosevelt:

(Reuters) - Iran faced Western pressure on Saturday to make concessions over its atomic activities after it and six world powers failed to meet a July 20 deadline for a deal to end the decade-old dispute but agreed to keep talking.
The countries agreed to extend the high-stakes negotiations by four months, and let Iran access another $2.8 billion of its cash frozen abroad during that period...

Galifianakis to Obama: "Why would you get the guy who created the Zune to make your website?"

US President Barack Obama turns up on Zack Galifianakis' Funny or Die web interview show to pitch Obamacare. At least Obama finally seems to acknowledge that his health care program has become a comedy punch line.

Obama Speaks -Pressures Israel while he excuses inaction on Syria in part due to fear of offending Muslims

Bloomberg News' Jeffrey Goldberg interviewed US President Obama:
OBAMA: I believe that President Abbas is sincere about his willingness to recognize Israel and its right to exist, to recognize Israel’s legitimate security needs, to shun violence, to resolve these issues in a diplomatic fashion that meets the concerns of the people of Israel. And I think that this is a rare quality not just within the Palestinian territories, but in the Middle East generally...

Nut-job UCLA professor wants people with "Jewish-sounding names" to lobby Congress to accept Obama's capitulation to Iran

...Pressed in a follow-up email to explain his reliance on non-Jewish people who may have a “Jewish sounding name,” Kleiman again lashed out at Adelson, who donates to many pro-Israel causes.
“Because – given the false impression cultivated by Adelson’s money – an email from someone named Shapiro has a surprise factor not generated by the same email from someone named O’Hara,” wrote Kleiman, who also blogs for “The Reality-Based Community.”
When asked by the Free Beacon to provide some examples of “Jewish sounding” names, Kleiman recommended that a reporter “go play in traffic.”
“OK, I’ve played your silly game long enough,” he wrote. “Please take your concern trolling with you and go play in traffic.”

Today in Barack Obama is a spineless, narcissistic douche

Obama is trying to attack the character of US lawmakers who object to his gutless, Neville Chamberlain-like surrender to Iran.

The current US President is an incompetent narcissist.

And Obama is a liar who deceived the American people to cover up his deceit and incompetence in Libya.

Iran Mocks President Obama by Honoring Mughniyeh

Elliott Abrams writes:
President Obama has a full court press under way to stop Congress from passing new sanctions legislation that could–could, not will–impose sanctions on Iran one year from now if negotiations break down or Iran cheats. The idea seems to be that passage of the bill would signal mistrust of Iran, or would break the spell of sincerity being cast at the negotiating table.

But what is Iran doing while the president woos legislators? Laughing at us all. Yesterday, Iran’s foreign minister–one of the reputed moderates in the Rouhani camp–was in Beirut and laid a wreath at the grave of Imad Mughniyeh.

Mughniyeh was the Hezbollah terrorist who had killed more Americans than any other man until the attack on 9/11. Mughniyeh was involved in bombing the Marine barracks in Beirut, the bombings of US embassies, the torture and killing of CIA station chief William Buckley in Beirut, the hijacking of TWA 847 and the murder of Navy diver Robert Stethem–among other acts of terror...

UPDATE:  Iran's President gloats about the sucker deal Obama is taking: "world powers surrendered to Iranian nation's will"

Vladimir Putin is outflanking the west at every turn

Nick Cohen in The Guardian:
This has been the year of Vladimir Putin's ascendancy. The Russian president has made Barack Obama look like a conman's stooge – a lame duck president so weak that he can barely waddle to the pond. Putin has managed to protect his client dictatorship in Syria – even after it broke one of the few taboos limiting man's inhumanity to man by using chemical weapons. He has Edward Snowden, perhaps the most damaging leaker in recent history, under the vigilant eyes of his secret police in Moscow. He has out-manoeuvred the pro-European demonstrators in Kiev and bought off the Ukrainian government.

At home, his control over the state and civil society is so complete that he can afford to play the merciful tsar and release dissidents and his former rival Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Forbes magazine was not making a mistake when it called Putin the world's most powerful person in 2013....

Iran's open contempt for Obama and his sucker nuclear deal

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called America’s assertions about the interim nuclear agreement reached recently in Geneva “nonsense” and said the Islamic Republic’s strategy will collapse the sanctions program.

U.S. officials have called the nuclear agreement a first step in rolling back the Islamic regime’s nuclear program. President Barack Obama praised them as “substantial limitations” on Iran’s nuclear activities — but Zarif said Iran can easily reverse any enrichment limitations.

As part of Obama's surrender to Iran, US quietly released an Iranian spy trying to acquire nukes

...the US in April released a top Iranian scientist, Mojtaba Atarodi, who had been arrested in 2011 for attempting to acquire equipment that could be used for Iran’s military-nuclear programs.
Reportedly, American hikers Sarah Shourd and Shane Bauer were among the individuals the Iranians released in 2010 and 2011 as part of the dealings. In 2012, the United States began to reciprocate with its own release of Iranian prisoners Shahrzad Mir Gholikhan, Nosratollah Tajik, and Amir Hossein Seirafi.
According to the Times of Israel, Gholikhan was convicted on three counts of weapons trafficking. Tajik, a former Iranian ambassador to Jordan, was initially caught attempting to buy night-vision goggles from U.S. agents. He was later released after the U.S. decided not to follow up an extradition request it submitted to the British. In January of 2013 Seirafi was released; he was arrested in Frankfurt and convicted in the U.S. of attempting to purchase specialized vacuum pumps that could be used in the Iranian nuclear program...

Obama is our generation's Neville Chamberlain

Obama's deal with Iran is as good as Chamberlain's with Hitler
Like Neville Chamberlain waving his "peace in our time sell-out deal with Adolf Hitler, Barack Obama is trying to spin his bumbling failure and the manipulation of him by Iran's mullahs as a "victory."  It doesn't take a crystal ball to see that Barack Obama will be judged by history as an empty suit filled only with articulate platitudes.

With the disaster of Obamacare and now the inept nuclear deal with Iran just negotiated by his Administration, even Democrats have become nostalgic for George W. Bush, whom Obama has made into a great President by comparison. Worse still for the Democrats, they are beginning to realize that they will pay a heavy price for Obama's incompetence, both in next year's midterm Congressional elections and the Presidential one two years later.

The only "victory" to be found in Obama's lethal incompetence was handed to the totalitarians in Iran, who are now boasting that the deal they just signed gives them both the ability to enrich uranium, with which they will be able to build nuclear weapons and it removes the international sanctions that had crippled the country for years.

We now live in the most dangerous times in human history. Barack Obama has laid out the groundwork for the next World War, the one we have always dreaded - the one that will be fought with the nuclear weapons America's worst ever President placed in the hands of Iran's apocalyptic sociopaths.

Mitch Wolfe: Rob Ford Is Getting His Groove Back

This has been a good week for Rob Ford's campaign for re-election as Toronto's mayor in 2014.

Say what?

I can just see and hear those from the old media -- the Star, the Globe, the Post and the Sun -- spitting up their gluten-free almond milk all over their granola, down at their local Whole Foods store.

The consensus among the Toronto literati, intelligentsia, and Richard Florida's creative class, (who all apparently live within the Annex or cycling distance to the Annex) is that Ford has made Toronto into an international laughingstock.

...Ironically, a very well-respected CBC reporter Neil Macdonald, has come indirectly to Rob Ford's defence. He wrote in an article:

"But embarrassed? Us? As in 'Oh. My. God. He's turning us into a LAUGHINGSTOCK?'  Spare me.The only Canadians I know who actually think that are the Torontonians who never shut up about how cosmopolitan their city is."

Plus, from England's Daily Mail: Crack-smoking Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is more popular than Obama and U.S. Congress

French President Vows Tough Iran Stance in Israel

France's president promised Sunday to take a hard line toward Iran in upcoming nuclear talks this week as he began a three-day visit to Israel.

Francois Hollande's message was sure to be welcomed by his Israeli hosts, who have voiced concerns that an emerging deal with global powers gives Iran too much without getting enough in return.

"France will not make concessions on nuclear proliferation," Hollande said at a welcome ceremony at Israel's international airport. "France will maintain all its measures and sanctions until we are certain that Iran has renounced nuclear weapons."

John Bolton: We cannot verify and must not trust Iran's promises on nuclear weapons

Tuesday's opening of yet another round of negotiations with Iran over its nuclear-weapons program creates enormous risks for America's anti-proliferation efforts. Tehran's extensive propaganda campaign, stressing the "moderation" of its new president, Hassan Rouhani, seems to be working, softening up the gullible in the United States and Europe.

As in previous iterations of the charade now reopening in Geneva, Iran's bargaining position benefits from our own repeated mistakes. The ayatollahs need only take advantage of these unforced errors, and success may well fall into their undeserving hands. Consider the most blatant errors that Iran is eager to exploit.

First, both Presidents Bush and Obama conceded that Iran was entitled to a "peaceful" nuclear program, for energy and scientific purposes. Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), however, that view is flatly wrong. By pursuing nuclear weapons for over two decades, Iran has violated key NPT provisions – notably, the obligation it freely undertook to be a non-nuclear weapons state. Tehran is not, therefore, entitled to claim benefits under NPT sections permitting peaceful uses of nuclear power.

Vomit-inducing tripe from rabble.ca about the Washington Naval Yard shootings

Days like this remind me of the value of the guiding philosophy behind Eye on a Crazy Planet:
"I have always been among those who believed that the greatest freedom of speech was the greatest safety, because if a man is a fool, the best thing to do is to encourage him to advertise the fact by speaking."  - President Woodrow Wilson

The capture below is from the heavily moderated discussion forum at the website published by the spouse of federal NDP leader Libby Davies:

The emasculation of the American Presidency: Syria hails 'victory' in chemical arms deal, Assad forces attack in Damascus

Syria's government hailed as a "victory" a Russian-brokered deal that has averted U.S. strikes. President Barack Obama, meanhwile, defended a chemical weapons pact that the rebels fear has bolstered their enemy in the civil war.

Obama's best solution for Syria: Blast the living shit out of Hezbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guards

Who would have thought that a wretched, backwards little country about which few in the west ever think, let alone care about, could trigger one of the world's great conflagrations?

There are no good guys in Syria's civil war. We are at the deplorable point in world affairs that the despotic Russian President Putin has more credibility than US Secretary of State Kerry, when the latter has said "moderates" are in charge of Syria's rebellion and the former called him a liar.

A world war is not going to break out if the US bombs Syria to punish it for using chemical weapons against rebels. But it's worth remembering that just under 100 years ago, the assassination of an Austrian archduke in Serbia triggered a war which was responsible for history's greatest loss of life of soldiers in battle. The point being, these things have a way of getting out of hand when national leaders don't know what they are doing.

Barack Obama is not a President whose leadership inspires great confidence on the world stage. It is for that very reason that he does need to keep his word and launch a punitive strike in Syria. Not to teach Bashar al-Assad a lesson, but to keep the world from spiraling into the even more chaotic state of instability that would worsen if miscreant nations realized that American threats carry no weight.

Because of Obama's dithering and then mishandling of the Syrian file, he now has to strike.

But strike whom?

The west has nothing to gain and much to lose if the scales are tipped too far in either direction in Syria. However one of the reasons Syria is a linchpin in its region is its close relationship with Iran and its influence in Lebanon with the Iranian-proxy terror group Hezbollah.

Both Iran and Hezbollah have sent fighters to support Assad in the civil war.

American military intelligence knows precisely where the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah fighters serving Assad's cause are stationed.

It is they whom the US should strike, and it should be done decisively.

Syrians would not be infuriated at the deaths of foreigners that insinuated themselves into their domestic affairs. Assad would not be toppled by the loss of the Iranians and Hezbollah auxiliaries. But a clear message would be sent, both to the reprobate Mullahs in Tehran, who have terrorized the Middle East since the Khomeini revolution in 1979, and to their subordinate stooges who maintain a stranglehold over domestic affairs in Lebanon through thuggery and intimidation.

Obama could accomplish a great deal if he has the resolve to push through the measure. It would restore him as a world leader, help stave off the collapse of American credibility, and even give the US President an opportunity to provide a "teachable moment" to the world's most vile rogues.
