Occupy Toronto, the movement that the left wing-media fell in love with back in the fall of 2011, was supposed to change the world.

The "99%" were going to revolutionize everyone's outlook on capitalism and income inequity and bring about  a mass movement to create the socialist paradise that had failed so many times before.

Less than a year later, they are all but forgotten and its few remnants are the dregs who are truly revealing about what really motivates the Occupy Movement.

Well-known radical activist Judy Rebick apparently was scheduled to participate in Occupy Toronto`s fundraiser today. Rebick`s website rabble.ca is funded by the same unions and NDP-affiliated organizations that sponsored various Canadian Occupy camps. It will be interesting if she turns up to lend her support to the depraved hate-mongering that is the real face of Occupy Toronto.

Rebick is a well-known feminist, and a professor at Ryerson university. The Toronto Stop the Cuts network, an anti-austerity, union front group co-founded by the author of a notorious anti-Semitic OISE thesis, is planning a last-ditch stand against Toronto`s upcoming budget vote on January 17.

Judging by the people committed to participating on the group`s facebook page, it looks like the protest will be a convention of the most undesirable characters Toronto has to offer.

In addition to Jenny Peto, you`ll be able to find James Clark, of the Iranian dictatorship advocacy group The Canadian Peace Alliance, May Lui, the hilarious OISE grad who said that a long wait-time at a hardware store made her a victim of sexual oppression, Jesse Zimmerman, the aggressive, hysterical fanatic that tried to accost best-selling author and journalist Michael Coren during and after a public speech, Sea Hitler stooge Lyn Adamson,  Ryerson Prof Alan Sears, who hopes the anti-Israel movement is the gateway drug to the fall of international Capitalism, and a mish-mash of self-interested CUPE officials, OISE staff and depraved Marxist half-wits.

This fight against Ford is the vanguard of the coming battle of public service unions against taxpayers.

Ford has kept his promise of not raising taxes beyond the rate of inflation (in fact he did better by not raising it at all in his first year in office). He put money back in taxpayers' pockets by eliminating the vehicle registration tax.

Taxes skyrocketed under Ford's predecessor David Miller and the amalgamation of the City of Toronto, which was supposed to streamline services and increase efficiency, saw the city's employment roll grow by 7000 people. That's where the tax increases have gone under Miller and that's what the unions are going all-out to preserve at the expense of the average citizen.

The unions are using every tactic they have at their disposal, including their financing of the incoherent Occupy Toronto protest that cost Toronto's taxpayers $714,000 according to the anti-Ford newspaper The Toronto Star.

They pour money extracted from union dues into the neo-Marxist propaganda outlet rabble.ca, where making an anti-union comment gets a person banned from their user forums.

They finance the violent, fanatical group OCAP (Ontario Coalition Against Poverty) that, like Occupy Toronto, exploits the homeless and mentally ill to advance their agenda, which they see as being the beginnings of "class warfare."

The unions and their proxies are trying to frame Toronto's budget battle as one of cuts to essential services. Make no mistake, they are concerned with reductions, but only to the overflowing union coffers, not to  the quality of the lives of the average citizen whose taxes they want to spike higher.

That is the real, ugly face of the anti-Ford movement in Toronto. They act in service, not of fairness, but the advancement of an agenda that serves only themselves. In the world they strive for, public policy is not driven by democratic representatives that are elected by every citizen, but a politburo that will impose its will on the less enlightened masses whom they claim to represent despite its lack of consent.

Fiscal conservatives are the modern day Robin Hoods

Before its demise, while walking through the muddy turf at the grimy Occupy Toronto compound not so long ago, amid the accosting cacophony of signage, one could spot the inevitable placard calling for a "Robin Hood" tax. The call for a special tax on the higher income earners is a routine feature of demonstrations by anti-Capitalist, anti-Globalization activists, and the the notion of it betrays their misconception of economics and history. The premise behind a Robin Hood tax runs completely opposite to everything the outlaws of Sherwood Forest represented.

Steal from the rich and give to the poor was the mission statement that enshrined the Merry Men and their leader as heroes in popular culture. But who were the rich in the medieval Europe? It was the nobility, who were also the government. And what was the source of the wealth accumulated by the aristocracy at the time of the Plantagenet kings? It was taxes that the government forcibly extracted from the poor. Robin Hood retook the money that the government took away to be spent on items that fulfilled their own agenda, and returned it to the people, who could use it to feed and serve the needs of the private citizenry.

So who is it now that wants to stop the government's ability to force you to give them money, for which they account rather poorly and regularly squander? It's not the defunct Occupy Movement, or the tax-hungry New Democratic Party. They want to hand more money to the government and use that as a conduit to claim more of it for themselves. It's not the civil service unions, who want to raise taxes so that more of them can remain secure at the expense of the rest of the public.

Today's Robin Hoods are fiscal conservatives who, like their legendary predecessor, want to keep money out of the hands of inept bureaucracies and restore it to the hands of the people. Fiscal conservatives, like Robin Hood, believe that money belongs to those who worked for it in the first place so they can choose how to use it for themselves.

Medieval anti-Government Fiscal Conservative

The anti-globalization, anti-capitalist movement's profound ignorance is evidenced by their wanting to replace a system that has provided the most  freedoms and prosperity in the history of mankind with a proven failure. The Marxist-based one they prefer has,  every single instance it has been used at the governmental level, resulted in totalitarian dictatorships and national squalor. If you to do something inefficiently and incompetently with the worst possible outcome, there's generally no better way of accomplishing that than to hand the job over to government. That is precisely what the anti-capitalist backers of the failed Occupy Movement want to do.

The only resemblance the anti-Capitalists in the Occupy Movement had with Robin Hood and his Merry Band was that they lived in outdoor encampments. But that's where the similarity ends. In reality, they, and the political actors like those in the NDP who support higher taxes, are acting as proxies for our Sheriff of Nottinghams and King Johns who want your money for their own selfish purposes.

Message to Occupy Toronto: The Occupation can continue if you just move your tents over a few yards

Mr. Justice David M. Brown rendered his Order today dismissing Occupy Toronto's effort to quash the City's eviction notice. It was an intelligent, well though out and lengthy (54 pages) Order that in essence, says the protesters are hypocrites and don't understand The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Rather than offer my own commentary, the Order is written in plain, straightforward language that expresses the basis of the dispute between Occupy Toronto and the rest of the community-at-large. Judge Brown starts by posing questions:

How do we live together in a community? How do we share common space? These questions have elicited quite different answers in different political communities at different times over the centuries. In our Canadian community we have crafted an understanding which has drawn on long strands tracing their roots back to both secular and religious sources. In the realm of political and civic relationships we have articulated.that understanding most recently in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter’s Preamble makes two points: as a consequence of the "supremacy of God", we all must bring humility to our dealings with our fellow citizens; as a consequence of "the rule of law", we all must live subject to some rules – we are not unconstrained free actors.

And based on the evidence reaches these conclusions: 

[9] Although proclaiming a message of participatory democracy, the evidence, unfortunately, reveals that the Protesters did not practice what they were preaching when they decided to occupy the Park. Specifically, they did not ask those who live and work around the Park or those who use the Park – or their civic representatives – what they would think if the Park was turned into a tent city.

[10] The Protesters now say, in effect, that the Charter did not require them to ask; that the Charter sanctions their unilateral occupation of the Park– which they intend to continue for an indefinite period of time – because of the importance of their message and the way in which they convey it – by taking over public property. 

[11] With the greatest of respect to the Applicants and the Protesters, they are mistaken.

 
However, one aspect of the ruling that the media has neglected is this:

[18] The City of Toronto owns the Park, the western boundary of which abuts grassed land owned by the Anglican Archdiocese of Toronto as part of the grounds of St. James Anglican Church. Some of the Protesters’ tents and shelters occupy Church land. The Church has not sought to enter these proceedings. Accordingly, what is at issue simply is the validity of the Trespass Notice in respect of the City-owned lands.

The Anglican Church has expressed support for Occupy Toronto. Well, here's a chance for them to put their money where their mouth is. The large lawn in front of St. James Church is only a few yards west of the city-owned St. James Park.

Occupy Toronto could move their tents there, and unless the Anglican Church applies for a Trespass Order like the City did, the occupation could continue on Church property.

Now wouldn't that make things interesting? 



UPDATE: The Church has issued an Eviction Notice to the protesters too. It seems that despite "supporting their goals" the Anglican Church doesn't support the Occu-squatters to the extent of wanting to put up with their smell and bad behaviour.

News Flash: Occupy Toronto filled with mentally ill people who show incredibly bad judgement

It's no secret that the "Occupy Toronto" encampment at St. James Park is largely populated by mentally ill people that are being manipulated by the fanatics of the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty and their Union financiers.

But what is curious is the extent of this manipulation and the terrible judgement being demonstrated by both the occupants and those who pretend to be concerned for their well-being.

The muddy, cold exposure of the environment at Occupy Toronto is not one of respite. Imagine an outdoor asylum run by lunatics and that is what you'll find in St. James Park.

A reporter for rabble.ca, a radical neo-Marxist propaganda website which is heavily invested in the "Occupation movement," interviewed a few of the squatters. These types of interviews are particularly revealing because the subjects disclose a lot more to people they perceive as being sympathetic than they do to people in the established mainstream media .

Katie Toth wrote for rabble.ca describing the accounts of  some of Occupy Toronto's people with serious psychiatric issues:

Tamara Dippel is a participant in Occupy Toronto who identifies as having mental health issues including social anxiety.

"What people don't realize about what's going on is people like me and others who have illnesses are putting our lives on the line," she says. "We know we can't handle things the way other people can."

Dippel says she's drawn to Occupy Toronto because she sees problems with the current economic system. She's now concerned about the lack of stability that could result from an eviction, especially for those with mental health issues.

"I'm really worried about the mental health of people here," she says. "These people are very vulnerable. We have a hard time handling conflict and we have a hard time handling stress."

It would seem obvious that someone who has a "hard time" handling stress and conflict might not be doing themselves a favor illegally camping out in a public park in a pointless protest that is inviting an inevitable conflict with neighbours, police and the municipality.  And yet they are guided to remain by union and activist strategists who see a benefit to their organizations from the conflict.

Toth provides the account of another mentally ill occupier:

"Right now there's really no other place to turn," he says. "A lot of them have been turned away from mental institutions because apparently they're not mentally unstable enough. And that's not true." 

He describes the positive support he's experienced. 

"Here, everyone is accepted no matter what their mental health situation is," says Barker. "We try to help everybody out." 

Barker, who identifies as having multiple personality disorder and depression, says that Occupy has become a place where people with mental illnesses of all kinds are respected.

They may be respected for being bodies to show numbers, but people with serious mental illnesses require care and support of trained medical and mental health care workers, not the kind that  professional anti-capitalist activists can provide.

It's unfortunate but predictable that these vulnerable people are being used as pawns by unions like OPSEU and CUPE and their Marxist activist allies. These professional agitators are unlikely to change the world with their cacophony of disparate causes, all of which scream out for more taxes and government spending in a time of national debt and the need for austerity. But at the end of the day, the people manipulating and capitalizing on the Occupy movement, like Syd Ryan, Michael Moore and Naomi Klein, will sleep at night in their expensive, comfortable homes. Meanwhile,  the sufferers of psychiatric illness whom Occupy's celebrity spokespeople use as expendible tools will bear the cost of these narcissists' excuse for more attention.

No one wants to live in a world run by these dimwits.

Who really benefits from the "Occupy" movement in Canada?

Bedraggled protesters ranging from a couple dozen to a couple hundred, have created grotesque, squalid parodies of civilization in the hearts of a few of Canada's major cities and refer to themselves as an "Occupy Movement."  While these mostly incoherent malcontents with an extensive laundry list of personal grievances are only a miniscule percentage of Canada's population, they claim to represent "the people." If that claim sounds familiar, it's because you've heard it historically from every politburo in every totalitarian Marxist regime.

Among the many logical inconsistencies and paradoxes voiced by The Occupation is their disdain for our government while at the same time calling for more regulation, the imposition of  more taxes, and the provision of more public services that could only be achieved by the expansion of government.

That too may sound familiar. Who is it that we know who are continually at loggerheads with the government, yet whose survival depends on an ever growing bureaucracy and more intrusiveness of the public sector into private lives?

The leadership of Public Sector unions rely on their funding from the growth of their membership and the entrenchment of administrative inertia. The equation is simple, the more civil service jobs, the more union dues to go to funding the political projects and perks of the union bosses. Be it funding for radical activists giving tacit support to the terrorists of Hamas, as the Canadian Union of Postal Workers did with its support of the Canadian Gaza Boat (The Sea Hitler), or the Canadian Union of Public Employees sending its leaders on junkets to show solidarity with the Cuban Revolution of Fidel Castro, or cash for pro-Marxist media outlets like rabble.ca as is provided by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), the dues paid by public servants are being siphoned off by union bosses to promote their own anti-capitalist vision.

That's why these same public service unions are actively taking union funds to promote, support and keep The Occupation going for as long as it can. That's why, whenever the tiny band of Occupiers decide to take a jaunt to City Hall for a mobile protest, though their numbers remain relatively tiny, they are swelled by union flag waving public sector drones. In fact, without union support, like OPSEU's provision of porta-potties and meals to Occupy Toronto, some of these downtown squats would have decamped a long time ago.

In the end, the physical damage and policing expenses which are incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars of costs, that will have to be covered by the taxpayers, are happening because your public sector unions wanted it. In that sense, even if, as is likely, they accomplish nothing politically from the Occupy Movement, the dues they'll collect from the overtime paid to public employees who will have to clean up the mess made by the urban campers will justify the unions' financial investment, even if there is no moral justification.

"Occupy Toronto" has taken over a park in downtown Toronto, necessitating extra policing costs, Their protests that have taken to the streets have caused major inconveniences for businesses and individuals. That combined with extensive damage to St. James Park that will need to be repaired will cost Toronto taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Protest is an intrinsic democratic right, but the right to damage public property and disrupt the local economy in violation of civil laws is not. Occupy Toronto continues to engage in such acts with financial and material support from a variety of public service unions.

Occupy Toronto is comprised of attention-seeking individuals with an inflated sense of entitlement who feel that they have a right to have their desires paid out of other people's pockets. They have complained about cuts to civic services, yet are adding to municipal expenses which put greater pressure on available resources that may cause deprivation to people in genuine need.

Urban camping is not a basic civil right. Therefore we the undersigned demand that:

The Mayor and/or Chief of Police order police to issue fines to any individual violating city by-laws by camping in St. James Park as of November 1, 2011.
