Lawrence Solomon: For global warming believers, 2013 was the year from Hell

Almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the cause of global warming

2013 has been a gloomy year for global warming enthusiasts. The sea ice in the Antarctic set a record, according to NASA, extending over a greater area than at any time since 1979 when satellite measurements first began. In the Arctic the news is also glum. Five years ago, Al Gore predicted that by 2013 “the entire North polar ice cap will be gone.” Didn’t happen. Instead, a deflated Gore saw the Arctic ice cap increase by 50% over 2012. This year’s Arctic ice likewise exceeded that of 2008, the year of his prediction. And that of 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Weather between the poles has also conspired to make the global warming believers look bad. In December, U.S. weather stations reported over 2000 record cold and snow days. Almost 60% of the U.S. was covered in snow, twice as much as last year. The heavens even opened up in the Holy Land, where an awestruck citizenry saw 16 inches of snow fall in Jerusalem, almost three feet in its environs. Snow blanketed Cairo for the first time in more than 100 years.

2013 marks the 17^th year of no warming on the planet. ..

Dee Snider vs Al & Tipper Gore - He Who Laughs Last

Some people may remember, long before Al Gore invented the Internet and global warming, he was a Senator from Tennessee and his wife, Tipper, gained international prominence for her campaign against Heavy Metal music which she claimed was corrupting America's youth.

The warning labels now on cd's that have "offensive" lyrics are an outgrowth of her efforts, and there was a "Filthy Fifteen" list of what Tipper's Group, The Parents' Music Resource Center, deemed the most egregious offenders.

Dee Snider, the lead singer of the bizarre 80's group Twisted Sister, appeared at a Senate inquiry and got into a heated exchange with Mr. Gore, over Snider's saying that Tipper Gore was looking for a Sado-masochistic interpretation of a song, so of course she found it.



Flash forward 26 years.

Dee Snider is still married to the same woman and his children have never been arrested for drug offenses.

Al Gore is divorced, facing numerous sexual harassment and assault charges and his son, Al Gore III was arrested for drug possession in 2007.

Maybe the Gores would have been better off if they had listened to more Heavy Metal.

And for some gossip of the sort I wasn't expecting..Al Gore & Laurie David??

Where did these rumours come from?

They have a shared interest in Global Warming. Does that mean he wanted to warm her globes, melt her polar ice caps..? Feel free to contribute your own sophomoric pun in the comments section, I'm sure it won't be any worse than mine.

I hope it's not true, for their sakes..it might mean that Larry David will find some wacky scheme to break them up, causing disaster for them and hilarity for the rest of us.
