As you may know, my husband Arnie Lemaire–also known as BlazingCatFur–was sued a few years ago by former Human Rights Commission investigator Richard Warman.

Warman sued Arnie for libel, largely for comments made by Arnie’s readers, as well as for linking to Mark Steyn’s website,SteynOnline.com.

At long last, the lawsuit is over. However, the fight was expensive and Arnie and I still have big legal bills.

We hate to ask for your help again, but we have to.

Kathy Shaidle waxes philosophical about Sun TV news

Cable news in its current format — the breathless pace, the reliance upon what seems to be one rather oddindividual’s worn out, twenty year old Rolodex for “expert” guests (Dick Morris!?) — has been with us since CNN launched in 1980.

Despite all the criticism and parody, that format is so entrenched I doubt it can be dramatically altered.

However, if you’ll forgive a foreigner for boasting, we Canadians might be able to offer a few tips.

The Sun News Network debuted up here a few years ago. Dubbed “FOX News North” by liberal detractors even before it aired, Sun, being new, had no “bad habits” to unlearn, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to start from scratch and thus avoid some of its predecessors’ mistakes.

They operate on a budget that probably wouldn’t keep CNN running for a day.

Yet Americans who’ve watched Sun segments via YouTube, my blog and elsewhere typically exclaim, “Wow! FOX News wouldn’t even do that! Not even John Stossel is THAT cool!”

...the Montreal Massacre is held up as proof that all (white) men are wife-beating rapists-in-waiting, and all guns are penis substitutes that should be banned. 

The nation’s flags—I’m not joking—are flown at half-mast. It’s a liberal High Holy Day, commemorated most seriously at college campuses.   

Hence the University of Western Ontario’s student radio station’s decision to ban male voices on the air this December 6.

This left Ontario libertarians Robert Metz and Robert Vaughan with a dilemma. Their show Just Right airs on CHRW every Thursday and comprises the only hour of the week devoted to non-Marxist programming. 

Banned from their own program, the Bobs asked me and our mutual vagina-having friend Mary Lou Ambrogio of the International Free Press Society to sit in for them. We agreed. I announced my guest-hosting gig on my blog.

That’s when Warren Kinsella tried to prevent me from going on the air.
