New York Times effort to rehabilitate Hilary Clinton & Obama on Benghazi "completely false"

Fifteen months after the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, the narrative of the attack continues to be shaped, and reshaped, by politicians and the press.

But a New York Times report published over the weekend has angered sources who were on the ground that night. Those sources, who continue to face threats of losing their jobs, sharply challenged the Times’ findings that there was no involvement from Al Qaeda or any other international terror group and that an anti-Islam film played a role in inciting the initial wave of attacks.

“It was a coordinated attack. It is completely false to say anything else. … It is completely a lie,” one witness to the attack told Fox News.

Run by Michel Chossudovsky, economics professor emeritus at the University of Ottawa, the Centre has for some long while enjoyed what could be called a friendly relationship with the Libyan regime of Muammar Gaddafi. The Centre also enjoys an intimate and wildly successful relationship with one of the world’s pre-eminent cable “news” networks, and it has put that relationship to the purpose of disseminating undiluted Gaddafist propaganda. NATO's Secretary-General on the lessons of Libya

The mission in Libya has revealed three important truths about military intervention today. First, to those who claimed that Afghanistan was to be NATO's last out-of-area mission, it has shown that unpredictability is the very essence of security. Second, it has proved that in addition to frontline capabilities, such as fighter-bombers and warships, so-called enablers, such as surveillance and refueling aircraft, as well as drones, are critical parts of any modern operation. And third, it has revealed that NATO allies do not lack military capabilities. Any shortfalls have been primarily due to political, rather than military, constraints. In other words, Libya is a reminder of how important it is for NATO to be ready, capable, and willing to act.

Warren Allmand - Canadian terror enablers' useful idiot

Warren Allmand was a Cabinet Minister in Pierre Trudeau's government from 1972 to 1979. He was notable for tabling legislation as Solicitor General that abolished Canada's death penalty and for his unsuccessful Private Member's Bill to have the Queen removed from Canada's Citizenship Oath.

No longer in Cabinet following Trudeau's 1980 defeat of Joe Clark, Allmand was dumped from his position as Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice by Jean Chretien in 1995, and then Allmand chose not to attempt re-election as an MP. He later became a Montreal City Councillor for four years.

The almost 79 year-old Allmand has recently demonstrated a serious lack of judgement and coherence by becoming a Board Member of fanatical anti-Israel and borderline anti-Semitic group that deceptively calls itself Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East.

In his new role, the geriatric ex-politician has made bizarre comparisons attempting to equate Israel with Hamas. He says it is unfair that Israel should blockade arms from reaching an Iranian-proxy terrorist group, but complains there is no blockade preventing arms reaching Israel to defend itself from terror. He also equates Israel's nuclear abilities to its neighbours. Allmand must be ignorant of the fact that Iran, which seeks nuclear weapons, has threatened to wipe the Jewish state off the map, while Israel, despite having the capability, has never threatened the destruction of any of its neighbours, even Gaza, which launches attacks against civillians.

Allmand uses declarations of the United Nations Human Rights Council as support for his position. That body certainly caries as much moral weight as anything coming from Allmand. It includes such bastions of human rights as China, Cuba, Uganda, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh,Pakistan and until March of this year also included Colonel Ghaddafi's Libya. Allmand certainly picks the right people with whom to associate.

Allmand's pronouncements reflect the moral turpitude of The Sea Hitler's support and raises the question of why this effort to abet the terror group Hamas, which is a violation of Canadian law, is not being faced with criminal prosecution.

Two taboo words about Libya: "Exit Strategy"

Though they finally engaged this week, every day of America's and the Western allies' prolonged inaction during the Libyan revolt put NATO's credibility at risk. Each rebel death seemed a painful reminder of a lesson established by Jimmy Carter's inept handling of the Khomeniites' takeover of Iran and George H.W. Bush's betrayal of Iraqi Shiite rebels in the first Gulf War, that "to be America's enemy is dangerous, to be its friend is fatal."

So, as was the case in Afghanistan and Iraq, a new coalition has entered the fray in Libya. And like in the previous two interventions, we know we want regime change, but we don't quite know what to do if things get ugly afterwards. 

Prussian Field Marshall Helmuth von Moltke was paraphrased as saying "no plan survives contact with the enemy." Perhaps that was what Barack Obama, a master of disinformation, was thinking when he said on Tuesday that America's "Exit Strategy" would begin this week. That was a rather unusual pronouncement considering that so far, not only is there no real exit strategy for Libya, but we don't even have a clearly defined entry strategy.

As of today, NATO left the the US disappointed by only agreeing to assume responsibility for the No Fly Zone, leaving attacks against Gaddafi's ground troops the responsibility of whomever will take that role. It will likely fall to the US, the UK and possibly Canada and France to assume that responsibility.

There is a school of thought present among a certain category of Western "progressive" whose devotion to Marxist ideology makes them consider capitalism and perceived imperialism to be worse crimes than the Taliban's brutality and its denial of civil rights and education to Afghan women, or to the fratricidal bloodbath that would have consumed Iraq if the coalition had withdrawn prematurely. But them aside, notwithstanding the lack of effective strategies for Afghanistan and Iraq, no reasonable person would argue the world isn''t better off for having the Taliban and Saddam Hussein removed from power.

So far, no one knows much about the Libyan opposition, much less what a government that replaces Gaddafi will look like, but we do know a world without Gaddafi running a country is a better one.

The precedents for Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq may be in the presence the US maintains to this day in Germany and Japan, decades after the 2nd World War concluded. Those countries are now democratic and among the most stable and prosperous in the world.  What this teaches us, but no one is willing to admit, is that like in the cases of other successful major military interventions, the only real exit strategy is to wait until the job of stabilizing a country is complete.

Gaddafi threatens to attack civillian aircraft in Mediterranean as No Fly Zone imposed

Colonel Gaddafi threatened retaliatory attacks on passenger aircraft in the Mediterranean last night if foreign countries launched air strikes against Libya. 

“Any foreign military act” would expose “all air and maritime traffic in the Mediterranean Sea” as targets for a counter attack, the Libyan regime said. 

The warning was issued after America formally backed a joint British and French initiative for a no-fly zone over Libya and other military action against Col Gaddafi’s regime.

Muammar Gaddafi's bestest buddy, Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, is doing his best to find a way of saving his fellow dictator's hide.

Chavez realizes that with Gaddafi, gone, not only will there be one less psychopath at the UN blaming all the world's ills on American imperialism, but with the rapidly declining number of world leaders who dress as if they're performing in a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, it'll make him stand out all the more as a buffoon.

So Chavez has floated a peace plan that is rather transparently designed to buy time for Gaddafi and keep him in power.

The other side in Libya, the Libyan National Council, which represents the rebel groups battling Gaddafi's loyalists and mercenaries, has rejected the Chavez plan, as has The United States, the U.K. and France. The Libyan National Council wants international recognition as the legitimate government and have requested that a No Fly Zone be imposed, so that Gaddafi can't use the strategic advantage that his air force and helicopters give him over the rebels.

When it comes to ground forces versus ground forces, the rebels have an big advantage in that they are much better motivated than Gaddafi's mercenaries and are likely to fight more fiercely.

The mercenaries have homes in foreign countries to which they can return. Gaddafi's opponents, were they to be defeated, would have only two options, flee abroad or be killed.

As a side note, this CNN photo shows the traditional anti-Semitic component which always appears in some part of Arab protests, in the form of trying to paint their enemies as either Jews or agents of Jews. The irony of portraying Gaddafi, who was one of the most ferocious enemies of Israel, as a Jew, speaks to the absurd perceptions that still dominate that part of the world.

Today's insane Iranian conspiracy theory

According to Iran's state-controlled PRESS TV, which also employs terrorist mouthpiece George Galloway, Israel is propping up Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi as he tenuously holds on to the last vestages of his dictatorship.

Gaddafi has spent most of his career as a supporter of international terrorism trying to murder Israelis and Americans, (as well as Libyans who dissented from his autocratic rule), so the likelihood of Israeli support is nil. One wonders who are the bigger idiots in Iran, the demeted morons who create these absurd tales or the propaganda-fed slobs who actually might belive them.

"Egyptian sources have revealed that the Israeli company has so far provided Gaddafi's regime with 50,000 African mercenaries to attack the civilian anti-government protesters in Libya...Gaddafi regime pays $2000 per day for each mercenary."

The world has become a lonelier place for brutal totalitarian leaders in the last few weeks. The few who remain have formed a small support group.

Cuba's Fidel Castro, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega and of course, Crazy Hugo Chavez are all standing by Muammar Gaddafi while he slaughters his own populace in his hour or need.

Gaddafi's Death Knell

After 42 years of absolute power in Libya, the absolutely corrupt dictator Muammar Qaddafi  is finally on the ropes.

Qaddafi assumed power in a military coup, and while he retained the military rank of Colonel, he immediately assumed the role of generalissimo. He behaved like a Sultan and during his first 17 years of rule, believing himself immune from any consequence from his actions, which included the sponsoring of terrorism in the Middle East and Europe.

In response to the Libyan sponsored terror bombing of a disco in Berlin aimed at off-duty US military personnel, Ronald Reagan ordered the bombing of Gaddafi's Tripoli palace. The attack killing Gaddafi's adoptive daughter and seemed to teach Libya's strongman that he should behave himself. But fuming for vengeance, years later, Qaddafi ordered another terror attack against Americans, which took place in the form of a destroyed civilian airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Western leaders had wished nothing but ill-will towards Qaddafi, but the vast oil reserves under Libya's desert and the developed world's insatiable appetite for gasoline bought acceptance for a psychopath who would otherwise have been a complete pariah.

The Libyans themselves to push Quadafi to the last stages of his reign. The Libyan masses themselves were influenced by the wave of democratic revolutions sweeping the Arab world, which in turn were spurred by George W Bush's imposed democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unlike the other Arab autocrats who have been swept away with popular uprisings in the last few weeks, Qaddafi has an advantage. He is a completely ruthless, vicious psychopath, with no compunction against murder.

While these would be the most revolting traits for a normal human being, the lack of moral inhibition is advantageous for a dictator whose sole objective is keeping and exercising absolute authority. Saddam Hussein was able to rule Iraq by that means until he was pushed out by US troops. Without external forces to unseat him, Joseph Stalin ruled the USSR in such a way until his death.

As revolutionary troops close in on his capital of Tripoli, the western powers that did not want to commit themselves until now are pushing for sanctions against Qaddafi. His well-armed mercenary forces and loyalists may be able to stem the popular tide against him for the moment, but this last strategic commitment is certainly the death knell for Qaddafi.

Even if he is able to resist the current onslaught by a populace yearning for freedom, his and his son's ability to defend themselves from a future uprising will be vastly diminished. Qaddafi may have a few days left, he may even be able to stretch it to weeks, even months, but very soon, the world will see the end of one of its most despicable miscreants.

Word has it that Lybian dictator Muammar Gaddafi has fled to Venezuela to escape the uprising in his country and be sheltered by his ideological comrade, Hugo Chavez.  It's more like a barter-exchange. Muammar has plenty of dictator costumes that he won't be needing much longer. Hugo's command-economy fashion-flare and proletariat bargain-hunting skills have combined to pick up a few steals from his fellow fuhrer.

A worried Gaddafi bans soccer matches to head off protests

With popular uprisings against autocrats spreading across the Arab world, unpopular Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi has extended a ban of public demonstrations to include a ban on soccer matches.

Libya's crazed leader, who named one of his sons Hannibal, lives a lifestyle that exceeds that of the potentates of ancient Carthage on whose ruins his country sits.

Gaddafi has imprisoned journalists and political opponents and has ordered the assassination of ex-patriots who have spoken out against his regime. His repression of all dissent has made him and his family extremely unpopular among the Libyan masses.

His fear of meeting a fate worse than the deposed leader of Tunisia has led him to ban any opportunity for his people to assemble in large groups, even in non-political venues. He seems to appreciate that the opportunity to denounce the Beast of Tripoli may prove irresistible whenever it presents itself for his people.
