Toronto: "Diversity is Our Strength" - Except among anti-Ford protesters

Here is a picture from the last Ford Fest is Scarborough:

If you look at other pictures from Rob Ford's annual barbecue, you'll see a reflection of the vast diversity of Toronto.

Here's a picture from yesterday's anti-Ford protest rally at Nathan Phillips Square.

The small gathering, in the heart of the downtown core at lunch time, was a speck compared to huge numbers of Ford supporters who trekked to the far reaches of the city to stand by their man.

But look at something else. The anti-Ford mini-horde is made up exclusively of white people; the pompous white liberal ruling class elites that are so offended by how Rob Ford is an "embarrassment" to them.

These are people whose narcissism and self-focus is astounding.

Referring to inane assertions by Michael Taube that: "Ford’s antics have also turned Toronto, the fourth-largest city in North America, into a laughingstock, which could put the city’s economic viability at risk if this gong show continues for much longer," Mark Steyn shreds his vapidity with:
Toronto’s very “economic viability” could be at risk! Seriously? But apparently Mr Taube means it: The town hasn’t been this unviable since the War of 1812, when the Yanks sailed in and burned it to the ground. L’état économique, c’est moi. The self-importance of the political class captured in that sentence is not only a far bigger threat to “economic viability” but, in fact, the reason Ford was elected in the first place.

The rest of Mr Taube’s litany of complaints is so-called “gaffes” by Ford about various identity groups. Most of them are somewhat bluntly formulated but true-ish enough, and said by ordinary unmonitored citizens with nary a thought: Ladies, lessen your chances of Aids by sleeping with fewer bi-guys, etc. The notion that they’re so “over the top” as to disqualify someone from office is deeply damaging to the very idea of representative government. It requires that the political class speak only within the ever tightening bounds of an effete antiseptic “public discourse” ever more removed from the people they govern, and ever more exclusionary of ever larger numbers of them. It turns the rulers into a class apart.
A class apart indeed. The people who have always hated Rob Ford are gleeful at the chance to parade their sanctimony. But the voters of the city, the diverse people to whom that class apart pays lip service but doesn't understand, are the people who put Ford in office.

Those peons whom the ruling class claim to care about so much may again ignore the directives of their superiors and return Rob Ford to office in 2014. Now wouldn't that send a message?

Rex Murphy on Canada's "genocide" hucksters

...From native protestors and spokespeople there is a vigorous resort to current radical jargon — referring to Canadians as colonialist, as settlers, as having a settler’s mentality. Though it is awkward to note, there is a play to race in this, a conscious effort to ground all issues in the allegedly unrepentant racism of the “settler community.” This is an effort to force-frame every  dispute in the tendentious framework of the dubious “oppression studies” and “colonial theory” of latter-day universities.

Then there is also an even more deplorable effort to frame the interactions between Canadians and Canada’s aboriginal peoples as a genocide — an accusation both illiterate and insulting...

CBC reports Hamas' useless idiots Greyson and Loubani cannot leave Egypt while investigation into possible charges continue

The pair checked in for a flight to Frankfurt on Sunday, but were prevented from boarding the plane after their names appeared on a "stop list" issued by prosecutors, airport officials said.

The two retrieved their luggage and were free to leave the airport.

Their inclusion on the no-fly list was described Monday as a "bureaucratic glitch" by Greyson’s partner, Stephen Andrews, in an interview on CBC Radio's Metro Morning.

It was thought Greyson and Loubani would be free to return home sometime this week, but on Monday morning, CBC’s Middle East correspondent Sasa Petricic tweeted that may not be the case:
Greyson and Loubani, an emergency ward doctor, were arrested Aug. 16 during the violent demonstrations..

Anarchist nutcases and registered charities decide to harass Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne at home

It's one thing to criticize a politician.

It's another entirely to show up en masse at their home and harass them and their entire neighborhood.

Kathleen Wynne may not be a very good Premier, but she's not Hitler. She's not even Kim Jong Il, though I've sarcastically made North Korean dictator references to her.

I'd like to see see her voted out next election, but harassing her at home is beyond the pale.

It's also standard procedure for the cretins at the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty, No One Is Illegal and a variety of other fanatical Marxist and anarchist groups whose membership is quite literally, and liberally, peppered with people who have severe mental illness.

Disgracefully, they were joined by some groups that have charitable status. Hopefully, they will be among the ones that the government has proposed to review.

Pro-Muslim Brotherhood protest in Calgary blames MidEast strife on "Americans and Zionists." CBC omits that part from its coverage

In the coverage of the event that tells what actually happened, Jonathan Halevi who speaks Arabic, reports:

Tharwat Muhammad Anwar Nafi’ (ثروت محمد انور نافع), a member of the dissolved Egyptian Upper house, the Shura Council, also attended the protest. In his fiery speech he argued that Israel and the US are behind the military coup and the turmoil in the Middle East.

Here’s an excerpt of his speech: “The Egyptian armed forces, designated to protect the people, are now carrying out massacres in Egypt under the auspices of Israel and USA. What happened in Egypt and what is happening in all Arab states is being done under the auspices of the Zionists and Americans to crack down on any possible democracy or any democratic thinking in the Middle East.”

The CBC told a different tale:

Egyptians in Montreal protest against Muslim Brotherhood

Yesterday, a group of Egyptians carried a banner that read, "Obama, it Egypt's war against MB terrorism" through the streets of Montreal.

Obama's handling of Egypt and the entire Middle East during his presidency has been thoroughly inept.

Unless it's part of a master-stroke predicated on his understanding how much hate and contempt he generates.

Idiot Line 9 protester gets a hard lesson on the perils of being incredibly stupid in court

These Line 9 protesters add  a whole new depth to the term "imbecile."

They disrupt a court by clapping during proceedings, then when given a warning, seem to think that switching to snapping their fingers in court is an acceptable alternative option.

I kid you not.

One wonders whether these people's behavior is a result of profound ignorance or just brain damage:
"On Tuesday I participated in a show of court support by respectfully clapping as each of my fellow arrestees and friends from Swamp Line 9 were called to the front. After the justice of the peace threatened to clear the court, we switched to the quiet and unobtrusive snapping of our fingers. A police officer, at his own accord, decided to target and arrested one individual. Out of fear for her safety, being locked in a room with two armed and aggressive males without supervision, some of us tried to negotiate her release. Police responded en masse with force.

I was arrested for assault on police, obstruction and disrupting the court."

Ezra meets the Loony Left at Hamilton Line 9 protest

Ezra Levant crashes the Hamilton Line 9 Protest and the results are funny.

You may recognize some familiar faces from the loony left, like our old, and I do mean old friend, Ken Stone.

UPDATE: Ezra's column in the Sun about his coverage of the event is one of the best things he's written

Fossilized ghosts of the Communist past rally against Israel

The miserable clowns of 9-11 conspiracy theorist Diana Ralph's Independent Jewish Voices held a rally yesterday. Blogwrath was there and as usual, there were as many if not more groups "endorsing" the sad little protest as there were people attending.

It's an old trick of the Marxist left to re-form a number of groups with the same members in each one to make it seem like they are a "movement" rather than a handful of human detritus. Among the pathetic old communists were some claiming the Monty Pythonesque-sounding name The United Jewish People's Order.

Blogwrath reports:
The Independent Jewish Voices held today a rally against the Israeli “apartheid” and “ethnic cleansing” in front of the Israeli Consulate in Toronto. According to their promotion, the endorsers include Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJMPE), the Canadian Boat to Gaza (Gaza’s Ark), Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA), the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN) Canada, Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (QuAIA), Canadian Peace Alliance, Women in Solidarity with Palestine (WSP), and Palestine House.

It looks like most of the protesters are members of the same organizations, because I only saw the usual suspects, who show up at all similar events.

Amusingly, the street band in this video below outshone the protest next to them. The band had nothing to do with the anti-Israel group.  The band's name. "The Sidewalk Crusaders" would actually be an affront to the Islamists:

Self-promoting slime will diminish efforts to get answers about Sammy Yatin's death

Despicable groups like OCAP, No One Is Illegal, Occupy Toronto, some of the more shady characters attached to Idle No More, and a variety of scumbags are trying to appropriate concern about the police shooting of Toronto teenager Sammy Yatin for their own purposes.

GenuineWitty was at the recent protest and reports on the efforts of the slain youth's family to distance themselves from the opportunistic predators of the far left.

Kathleen Wynne's Ontario - Idle No More lawbreakers get a free pass from prosecution

TORONTO - In a rare move for a police chief, OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis says he "disagrees" with a decision by the Napanee Crown attorney to not bring to trial charges against several First Nations protesters in January's Idle No More rail blockade near Marysville.

"A thorough investigation was conducted by our criminal investigators," Lewis acknowledged this week. "They felt strongly that grounds to charge a number of the key protesters criminally existed, particularly given that this blockade was more than a brief inconvenience to a few people."

But, sources told the Toronto Sun, even with a police decision to lay charges the Crown rejected the notion.

Hamilton Police finally evict illegal Enbridge protesters after letter fro CANACE's Gary McHale threatens legal action

A group of professional protesters have been illegally occupying an Enbridge pumping station in Hamilton, Ontario in opposition to the Gas company's involvement with the Alberta Oil Sands pipeline.

Until today, Hamilton police refused to enforce the law to remove the protesters and actually supported them.

However yesterday, Gary McHale of the rights group CANACE sent a letter to Hamilton police:

..promising that he and his supporters would gather evidence and lay charges using Canada’s Private Prosecution provisions in the Criminal Code, including against police officers who might obstruct the gathering of that evidence:
“Starting next week we will, without notice, appear at the illegal occupation in order to video tape criminal behaviour, which includes mischief, and then file private prosecution charges against the protesters. Apparently these protesters believe they can block people from videotaping them – this, of course, is mischief as ruled by the courts.
“If your officers attempt to interfere in the gathering of evidence they too could be arrested and prosecuted on a charge of obstructing justice. Police cannot aid in criminal behaviour and they cannot interfere with the justice system.
Within 24 hours of receiving McHale's threat, Hamilton police finally acted to enforce the law, clearing the Enbridge site and arresting a number of the protesters.

Of course, the timing could also have had something to do with Enbridge getting a Court injunction yesterday to clear the protesters...
