These polls are idiotic and based entirely on name recognition, which is why Obama is rated a better president than Truman and Eisenhower by a 2-1 margin.
Doubt me on that? Look at JFK. Most professional historians can't say what he did in office other than get shot in the head. But opinion polls consistently put him up with Washington and Lincoln. The same, to a lesser extent, is true of Reagan, who might be considered slightly above average.
